West of Eden by Harry Harrison is based on the idea that the cataclysm that killed the dinosaurs never happened. They have instead evolved into an intelligent species alongside humans.
The first book follows Kerrick, a young human hunter who was raised among dinosaurs. When he returns to the human tribes he becomes their leader and a deadly foe of the dinosaurs.
Chapter illustrations are by Bill Sanderson.
West of Eden has been published in multiple editions by Bantam books.
