Created in 2001 by Scott Ramsoomair, VGCats is not a furry webcomic. However, some may be attracted to it for the primary recurring characters: a pink-furred female cat named Aeris, and a grey and white male cat named Leo. The two cat characters are the reason the comic is called VGCats and the comic itself is humorous parody of video games in general, although it can feature non-game subjects as well from time to time. The manner in which such humor is generated is similar to that of Penny Arcade, which also pokes fun at video games.
Ramsoomair (like Mac Hall's Ian McConville) was "introduced" to the furry fandom through erotic fan drawings of his main characters (fairly common fodder on such sites as fchan); this has not endeared him to the fandom (though he did find Daniel Renard's work amusing), and he takes occasional jabs at it.
Due to the cartoonish but sporadically mature nature of the comic, the rating is PG14. The comic does contain swearing and depicts blood on occasion. It also makes what could be considered sexual references and innuendo. The swearing, however, is often limited and most often is tamed, but the reader should be advised that there are strips that may potentially offend.
The video game comic was e-lawyered by Jack Thompson in 2005.
