Registration System Article[edit]

NPOV. --Chibiabos 11:04, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Actually, this is the wrong place entirely for this article. A project like this does not belong in the main article namespace, but rather as a subpage in the User namespace; for an example of this see User:Dmuth/PeopleWhoDon'tWantToBeOnAWiki. In order to do this, Trapa, you'll need to:

  1. Create an account on WikiFur
  2. Edit your user page and add a link like: [[/name of subpage]] and save the page.
  3. Then click on the new link; the text box that appears will allow you to edit the new subpage.
  4. Put whatever you wanted to add there.

Please note that links are case sensitive. Please let us know if you have any questions.

(By the way: Hi, Tank! It's been a while. Takaza's partner here :-) --Duncan da Husky 13:21, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Note that you can also move the Registration System page to the location of the new page once you've logged in (i.e. User:Trapa/Registration System). --GreenReaper(talk) 15:54, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I just flagged the article as NPOV. It was the best tag I could think of. My main objection is that, as User:GreenReaper pointed out, this type of article doesn't belong in the main namespace. It needs to be moved into the user space, preferably on a subpage. --Dmuth 20:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Resolution of Location of Registration System Article[edit]

Hrm .. well being new to wiki's i'll try to do that, I'm not quite sure how, but i'll see what i can do. It's too bad people who are reading the information aren't providing additional comments or inputs on the content.

 Create an account on WikiFur
 Edit your user page and add a link like: [[/name of subpage]] and save the page.

Also.. I thought i was doing that .. because i added the information into a section off my name. Now that i've created a user account i'm horribly confused, because the user page that i have under califur is now totally different than the user page that i have ... under my username .. and i don't know how to make the two the same,

In addition to that , i have no idea how to "classify" sections ... This is all getting very frustrating for me, could you contact me on icq (1441360) and help me out with this?

Actually now that i think about it, why doesn't this apply to main namespace?, this isn't just a thing i'm doing ... wait .. yes it is, but i don't want it to be just a thing i'm doing. i'm doing this for the community as a whole, and it'll affect the entire community, so why wouldn't it be part of the main community namespace?

OK, there's a couple of things here, so I'll take them step by step.
Unfortunately, I don't have ICQ access from work (firewalls, etc.) so I'm kind of stuck with this. First off, as to why this is necessary. If you haven't already, I suggest you read What WikiFur is and What WikiFur is not. WikiFur is here as a "furry encyclopedia"; if you place an article in the main namespace under the entry, "Registration System", the proper text in the article would be along the lines of:
A system (on computer or on paper) used to register attendees at a convention, provide name badges, and keep track of how many people are attending the convention.
What you are creating is better described by this passage from What WikiFur Is Not: "we do encourage use of WikiFur by furries for collaborative wiki projects, though preferably they would be related to the furry fandom in some way." Obviously this is a desirable thing and we want to encourage it, just in the proper location.
You do have a User page, it's at User:Trapa. I see right now it is pretty much just mirroring the article about you; the User page is more to tell people a little about yourself, how to contact you, or make comments that are not subject to the Neutral Point of View policy in place. I have edited it to better reflect its purpose and also to provide the link to the Registration System article as I described above. I'm going to copy the Registration System article to the proper location for you and we can work from there.
I apologize if this all seems clunky - it's sort of the way of wikis in general. The syntax isn't particularly intuitive, but it has the advantage that you can lift from any article or comment you see and wish to emulate. Our Help Pages and the Furry Book of Style can be extremely useful resources, and, as always, all you have to do is ask and there's quite a number of folks here who will be happy to lend a hand. I hope this gets you off to a better start on WikiFur. --Duncan da Husky 19:20, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and by the way: I've run Registration at Midwest FurFest for five years now; I'll definitely have some input on this project, but unfortunately it's going to have to wait until Monday. I need to actually get some work done! :-) --Duncan da Husky 19:26, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
P.S.: You can "sign" comments as I did above by adding --~~~~ to the end of your comment.--Duncan da Husky 19:26, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Hopefully I can make this clear, Trapa is an article about you, User:Trapa is an article by you. You have a lot more latitude in what you can do in the User: space, including subpages for your project, like User:Trapa/Registration System. --Rat

Paw Printing?[edit]

Hey Trapa, I was going to add a bit on Paw Printing to Trapa but I'm not sure what your position(s) are at Paw Printing (I'm fairly sure you are the Owner. Are you also the Web Designer?). --EarthFurst 18:53, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Sure add away if you want to.
(You didn't say whether or not you were the web designer. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 04:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes i am the web designer and programmer. There is a very extensive backend to the system that i may go into.

Hello Trapa,

This is in regards to Image:African Civets at SDZ.jpg. It has not been tagged with a copyright status. This can be a complicated area, so I can try to help if you need any. The Wikipedia Image use policy may give some background, but it isn't policy here. I see you've already indicated you are the creator of the image, which is good.

To deal with this image, there are a few choices:

  • If you are the copyright holder, release it under a free license, for example:
  • If the image is already under a free license, provide information on the license, and tag the image if you can.
  • If you would like the image to be deleted, ask any administrator

To see a list of current copyright tags available on WikiFur, see Category:Image copyright tags If the copyright status is not resolved, the image may be deleted.

Unless you have a question for me specifically, I'd prefer responses on the page for the image. --Rat 14:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I've tagged it with what I believe was your intention. --Rat 10:14, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

  • If you are asserting that this image is usable under fair use, add an appropriate fair use tag. A very basic summary is that fair use is used for commentary, criticism and review on the image when no free image could be used instead. Some fair use tags are:
    • Logos: {{logo}}
    • Covers: {{Cover}}
    • Comic panels: {{Comic-panel}}

I removed it from the Civet page and put it on the Trapa page, as I believe it's fair use to use it to refer to Trapa specifically. --Rat 11:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Image:Civet sleeping.jpg[edit]

Hello Trapa,

This is in regards to Image:Civet sleeping.jpg, which you tagged "Free for public use with credit".

In a later edit, it was tagged CC-BY-SA and GFDL. You can read more about what those licenses mean at the link. They are roughly equivalent to "Free for public use with credit", but do go on to specifics about how that is to be done.

If they do not convey what your actual wishes are in regard to the image, you may edit and correct the description.

You do not have to change anything on that image page. I am just giving you the information to look into if you wish. --Rat 12:36, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
