Welcome, watching tip, and comment on activity[edit]

Welcome to WikiFur, Silver! (Yay, another colour - soon we'll be like the wizards on Taps . . .)

For the record, you can also manually edit your raw watchlist. Particularly useful if you want to watch a list of pages.

As for WikiFur, we can always use new editors. Traffic is down in part because we moved last year and Google still hasn't given us the ranking we used to have. It shouldn't be long now, though - visitors increase ~7% every month - and our admins are still around if you need advice.

We're not as organized as you might be used to on Wikipedia, but don't let that stop you making changes where appropriate. Check out our policies, then go forth and be bold! --GreenReaper(talk) 05:27, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm probably going to be working primarily on biographies of the more famous people in the fandom in my time here. To that end, I just went and messaged Meesh on FA about a list of the comics and things he has made. Furthermore, I sent a message to ZEN to ask for his permission to use this image as a fursona picture on his Wikifur page. If he does give it, would you be able to upload the image for me? I've never worked with image files or templates, so I don't know how to do either of those things, even on Wikipedia.
I'm also likely going to be sending messages to other artists to get releases for image use on their pages. SilverserenC 05:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like a good place to start - articles about popular artists often draw visitors. As for the image uploading, I can if you want, but it's really easy - just go to Special:Upload, specify the license (you can just use the "character" option if given permission, and mention that it was uploaded with their permission in the description) and upload the file, then put something like [[File:NameOfFile.jpg|right|thumb|Description of image]] in the article. Give it a go! There's more details and options in the editing help. --GreenReaper(talk) 05:44, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Finished with DYK[edit]

I finished updating DYK. Does it look alright? From the looks of the archive, no one really updated it at all in 2009, or for the first half of 2010 so far. Would you like for me to be the updater for it? SilverserenC 07:35, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Looks good! The one thing I'd mention is that you can link directly to Wikipedia with [[Wikipedia:Article name|link description]] (I fixed them this time around). There's a list of such prefixes here. And sure, that'd be awesome! I used to update that but I just have so much on my plate now (maintaining WikiFur's software and now Flayrah, plus other stuff) that I haven't had time to spend updating our front page. --GreenReaper(talk) 15:16, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
How often do you think DYK should be updated? SilverserenC 18:07, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Probably about once or twice a week. The rate should be governed by the number of non-trivial new articles (be permissive; Kayiko and Man bijt hond are trivial - for now anyway - but Furry Canada Day or Central Midwest Furmeet are non-trivial). If you're interested in doing it more frequently than the supply allows, I suggest going back through the archives of articles created since the last 2009 update - I'm sure there are some great facts just waiting to be revealed. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:20, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Let's say every Friday then, or thereabouts. SilverserenC 18:23, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Shortcut Templates[edit]

I just tried to use a shortcut template on the Convention Wikiproject I just created and it appears that they don't work, as of yet. How would we go about getting such things to work, as they would be useful for both Help pages and Project/Portal pages? SilverserenC 19:16, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

It should work now. See WikiFur:Shortcut. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:52, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Random comments[edit]

For reference, the "editor" you just reverted was probably a misdirected attempt at forum spam. We've been getting that more frequently over the last few months. --GreenReaper(talk) 22:20, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Crush! Yiff! Destroy![edit]

Re the {{fact}} tag on Crush! Yiff! Destroy!#The End, I have no idea what could possibly be cited or referenced to prove it... though if you want to go look, the CYD forum and the front page are both still up, though posting & commenting have been turned off, and of course if you really wanted to poke about, CYD's WHOIS hasn't changed. Opposing viewpoint on notability and exlusion[edit]

Hi Silver! I've been following your edits with interest, since I'm a new editor at WF and I recognize that while you're relatively new here yourself, you have a wealth of experience over at WP. You may have noted by now, that I posted an opposing viewpoint to yours on Talk:Kaffa Wolf. It has long been my policy that if I disagree with someone, I also approach them personally and "shake hands." While it may not be strictly necessary in Wiki culture (since discussion and civil opposing views are openly encouraged), it still makes for better working relationships. So FWIW, just wanted to properly introduce myself and let you know I respect you, and that I hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future. --CodyDenton 06:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the kind reply (posted on User Talk:Cody Denton). This is a huge learning curve for me, having never been active on WP. (I do have an account there but have used it very rarely.) It's nice to hear feedback on what I'm doing, and I always welcome constructive advice too (if I should do something that might have best been done differently). I hope to remain active as an editor, though at this point as a relative newcomer to the fandom I doubt you'll see much original content from me. If you can think of a way that I could help you with the technical aspects of Wikifur:Wikiproject Convention, I'd be happy to participate. I've only been to one con, so anything requiring first-hand knowledge wouldn't be in my league. --CodyDenton 10:19, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

A point[edit]

He has a point. SilverserenC 18:03, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I'm afraid that offense was taken where none was intended. I've posted what I hope was a peaceful reply to explain why I objected. --CodyDenton 18:23, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Furnal Equinox[edit]

Thanks for your contributions and mediation on the FE article wherever possible - however, I really feel "up against a brick wall" so to speak. While I acknowledge that certain concessions might be necessary, the degree to which Dan has gone to express his particular perspective (now including some "Dan Skunk did this and that" edits over the past couple of days) over recent days is not acceptable to me (in my role as an FE representative). Left a message on GreenReaper's page asking if there's any arbitrative steps that can be taken to resolve this content issue, and would appreciate your help if you so wish. --Scani 20:52, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

removed age[edit]

Removed age from Shiuk article. Help:Furry_Book_of_Style "Do not give a person's current age, since it will become outdated over time. Give their year of birth instead." Maybe at some point Wikifur will have something like Wikipedia's Template:Birth_date_and_age . --EarthFurst 23:07, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, having a template that naturally changes the age based on the inputted birthday would be nice, though that would likely require a bit of coding. But, I understand. :3 SilverserenC 00:26, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks/Opinion[edit]

Hi Silver, thanks for staying on top of my recent submissions, and helping to catch the little tweaks and fixes that need to be made. You have much more experience than me, and I'd welcome any feedback; do the guideline posts thus far reflect best practices and a consensus view, in your opinion? Thanks, and have a great day! --CodyDenton 18:23, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

I think you've done a fantastic job with the guideline pages. Especially the ones that you reworded to be true for Wikifur. Those were excellent. I agree with all of the things you've added.
Oh, and let me point out that your "Nutshell" template already has an inset period in the end of the template, so you don't need to add a period at the end of your last sentence when you are using it. That's why it was making double periods, of which I was fixing. So, you can either remember not to put a period on the end of your last sentence when you use it or you can go and remove the period from the template itself. Either way, just wanted to point that out. SilverserenC 19:44, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, Silver! I'm having fun with it, but I do naturally want to keep things true to consensus. Also, thanks for the tip about the template! It was my first-ever attempt at a template that accepts a passed variable. I'll fix it later, when I get home. --CodyDenton 20:01, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Opinion[edit]

Oh goody, an opinion page ^^! I think you're an asshat, Silver Seren. You overstepped your authority where you had no business to. What I posted wasn't gossip, it was cold hard fact. I didn't post any source because I was the fucking source. I'm pretty sure I know who I'm having a relationship with, and since I had permission from the person whose page was in question to edit it, you caused me a lot of trouble with your stupid bullshit. The fact that you and your little butt buddy Cody suggested that I was delusional went too far. You both owe me an apology, which I will accept when you grovel at my feet like the insignificant little worms you are.BradRepko 19:08, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
and for the record, I'm not saying this to start trouble, Silver Sheen started trouble with me the moment he thought it wise to repeat something back at me that I had just said as if I had never said it. The moment he made it clear that he didn't read what people wrote in the discussion page before commenting made it apparent that he has no business having that little badge in the corner of his userpage. The fact that he went out of his way to pick fights with me on my first day here how much of an insignificant worm he is and I will never listen to a damn thing he tells me, because I do not recognize his authority. BradRepko 19:24, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
  • sigh* BradRepko, you have jumped into a conversation between Silver and me. A conversation which, it may come as a shock, has nothing to do with you. I have attempted to keep a calm, helpful, and civil tone with you. I do not appreciate the random intrusion into a question that I addressed to Silver, on HIS talk page, that had nothing to do with you. Neither of us suggested that you were delusional, though you may wish to consider the opinion that you are generating all by yourself with rants like this one. --CodyDenton 19:39, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Would you do Zelda?[edit]

Hello Im 189.47.28.218. The Guy who created the copy and paste from the zelda winkipedia, and Im also the guy who were asking to maintain the page since, there is dondogos, gorons and wolf link... (Im also the one who asked about zoras)(I never wanted to left an simple copy and paste, i just thinked that maybe its was an good starting point)

(As you can see Im fan of both furrys and zelda)

So i was starting to edit the page(Try to make it correct) by first deleting the copy and paste that everyone complained and then by collecting info and other things before start posting, and then i found an undo, so i was thinking: Yes, They are right, I Suck at Editing Winkfur, so its the best to leave the new page to be done by someone pro at it. So would you want to do it?

Im also telling that this is my last edit, so I will leave the idea of editing the Winkifur forever.

Sorry if my undo discouraged you. If you're going to make changes, it's better to go piece-meal with them and slowly work the article into the form that you think it should be.
I'm afraid that I don't really have the time to work on such a full-scale article like The Legend of Zelda, but I think you would do a great job if you really took a crack at it. It's best to start making the changes so that others can follow behind you and continue to make it even better. If no one starts the process, then it will never get done. SilverserenC 06:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Youre right, however it appear that someone just deleted the page... And as my edits were worst than I imagined, I will just leave to the persons like you, who did only awesome edits like the Inkbunny.

So Im just want to ask you to start the article the right way, just like you did in Popufur. (Just one line, of course when you had free time)

Oh, And Im also have to say that Derek (From Dereks Past) was an very good character. Whon did you get inspiration to your fics?

Request[edit]

Would you please delete my userpage, User:Silver seren? It's been a long time since i've contributed here and I don't really have an inclination to at current and I would just prefer if my userpage was removed. Thank you. SilverserenC 06:10, 1 June 2013 (EDT)

Sure. If you want it back later, let myself or another contributor know. --GreenReaper(talk) 16:57, 1 June 2013 (EDT)
