I posted my references (including a book where the first couple of paragraphs blatantly describe Kopa as Simba and Nala's cub) for Kopa being a more canonical version of Tanabi on Talk:Tanabi. Spaz Kitty 03:24, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... I'm still doubtful the most recent changes (both to Tanabi and Kiara) are the best or most accurate way to present the material, but I don't want to get into an editing war over it either. The feeling I get from the current version is as if it is trying to describe two separete characters as if they were the same character. Would you be agreeable to creating a separate article for Kopa? I'm also thinking the "Who was the cub?" section of Kiara might ought to be broken out into its own article, though we'd have to figure out what to call it and how to categorize it. --mwalimu 13:12, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
But in some respects, Tanabi and Kopa are the same character. They're both names for the cub at the end of TLK1, as Tanabi was the fan-name used for him before the book with Kopa in it was released. Spaz Kitty 02:20, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Most TLK fans I knew when I was involved in the fandom would disagree with that. By that argument, Kiara is also the same character, and she has her own article. --mwalimu 12:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
All right, I separated Tanabi and Kopa into two different articles, each with a "See also" link to the other. Spaz Kitty 12:26, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. When I get a little more time today I'll separate out the "Who was the cub?" from Kiara into it's own article. --mwalimu 12:36, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

The Lion King cub[edit]

I've finished an initial attempt at edits to The Lion King/Who was the cub? and some cleanup to Tanabi, as well as minor edits to Kopa and Kiara, that I hope covers all the bases. Please take a look and see if you think everything looks okay. I haven't made any changes to The Lion King or Simba's Pride (at least not yet) but some may be in order. --mwalimu 23:41, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I trust your opinion. ^^ I've been looking at occasional edits, and it seems fine to me. Spaz Kitty 23:57, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Looks good. Thanks for letting me know. -- Sine 02:01, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Protected articles[edit]

Regarding the protects I put on four articles a few minutes ago, I only set them to 'registered users only', not to 'sysops only'. I'm not sure how much it will help - some of today's vandalizers were registered, and if people want to vandalize WikiFur they will probably just go after other articles. But maybe it will help a little, and at least keep the front page clean. --mwalimu 00:15, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

As yet we don't have a partly protected so those will have to do for now I guess. ^_^;; I didn't place the Fur Affinity one at the top so at least it won't scare people off. I'll pull them off again when the articles get unblocked. --Nidonocu - talk Nidonocu 00:23, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Mwalimu, RVDDP2501 here, listen, I just wanted to say thanks for reverting the damaged done to the Xenif page by those vandals, I appreciate your time and effort in fixing pages such as mine, if you would like to talk/discuss on how I can improve my pages, I am open to all ideas and opinions. - RVDDP2501 20:30, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. It's good to hear that our efforts are appreciated. If it makes any difference, the vandals probably weren't targeting your pages specifically but using the Random page feature and vandalizing whatever came up. --mwalimu 20:51, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
oh, I see what you mean about the random page thing, anyways, I try to show respect and thenks to those to aid in helping with other's pages and so on, thanks alot, please let me know if you want to talk about pages and other stuff on Wikifur. Btw, what did you think of the Extinctioners Pages as well as the one(s) for the Andorozon? I like to hear reviews. - RVDDP2501 21:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

fiction-stub reclassification[edit]

From User talk:KDelany:

A couple of suggestions about your recent novel entries. First, you don't need to include the Fiction stubs category explicitly; that's done automatically by the fiction-stub template. Second, the characters categories might be appropriate if you wrote an article about a character from a novel, but not for the novel itself. Other than that, looking pretty good. We appreciate your contributions. --mwalimu 04:45, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

She did it because it wasn't in the right ordering for works with "The" at the front. I have solved this by editing Template:fiction-stub so that you can add a parameter to specify the category sorting, like this: {{fiction-stub|Magic, The Gathering}} --GreenReaper(talk) 05:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't matter what "fans" think[edit]

Facts in itself, is neutral. And it is fact that it was Kiara at the end of Lion King. Those who believe it's not is just delusional. Simba's first son dying is a big deal, or Simba having a son at all is a big deal. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED in the second movie. 02:36, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Do you have a source you can cite for this? --Douglas Muth 03:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the backup. --mwalimu 03:50, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm a bit confused as to how you knew was mwalimu to move the article to his talk page, Douglas Muth. --Chibiabos 03:59, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm confused alright, wasn't paying attention that wasn't what happened. :p *smacks self* --Chibiabos 04:03, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Higgs Raccoon[edit]

May I nominate Higgs Raccoon for upgrading to admin? In addition to contributing to numerous articles, he's helped revert vandalism on more than one occasion. --mwalimu 15:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Let's try that out, then. Contributions are a little low (and lacking discussion edits), but they are all good, and it's not like there aren't a couple of admins with fewer. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 15:27, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, this is quite an honour. Thankyou Mwalimu for the nomination, and GreenReaper for OKing it. Quite unexpected, really - as noted above, I haven't been here very long and haven't contributed a lot as yet. Hopefully the whole Wikifur novelty won't suddenly wear off. Oh well, if that happens I guess what GreenReaper giveth he can also taketh away! ;) --Higgs Raccoon 10:14, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Technically, no - I have to go to Wikia for that. That's why I don't generally give it out without recommendation. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 22:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

How to do bot vandal rollbacks[edit]

In cases of mass vandalism (page blanking and the like) it is acceptable to use the "bot" rollback method. To do this, go to the user's contribution page by clicking their name or IP address in the userlist, then add &bot=1 to the URL (or ?bot=1 if there is no ? already in the URL). Press enter to reload that URL, and then just open all the rollback links in new tabs. This will give the initial edit a "bot" flag, so that only your revert will be visible in recent changes. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I'll do it that way next time. By the way, when responding to a user talk comment like this, is there a way to have the thread automatically replicated in the other user's talk page? I've always done it by manually copying the response in both places. --mwalimu 19:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Not that I know of. Would be nice! --GreenReaper(talk) 19:11, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Blocking User:[edit]

Actually, if I understand Mediawiki, even while blocked, he should be able to post comments on his talk page. --Douglas Muth 19:00, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome! I did not mean to overwrite anyone else's changes. I'm trying to make some formatting changes with Halfshell's permission. I'm going to try to add some other changes now because mine just got blocked by others too. --CocoaZen 03:36, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for doing the merge. By the way, if someone makes changes while you're editing, it warns you, but then if you save, you clobber your own changes, not the other person's. (So, you can copy your changes first before saving, and then do a merge.) I don't think I clobbered your changes, but... sometimes I make mistakes. Thanks for being polite and constructive about it! --CocoaZen 03:53, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Just wondering - how do you control the appearance of the links on the left side of the screen, in particular the search box?

I'm asking not on account of anything to do with WikiFur, but because of a different wiki where I've started doing some edits. On that wiki there is only a search button, and below that you can select to search that wiki, or a Google web search. I would like to suggest to the admins of that wiki that they consider changing it to the Go and Search buttons like we have here on WikiFur. --mwalimu 22:30, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm afraid the answer here is "I don't know". The search box was, I think, tweaked somewhat by Wikia. I would suggest asking some of their techs would be a reasonable next step. --GreenReaper(talk) 07:31, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

My apologies I did not mean to clutter he history changes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Viro Veteruscy (talkcontribs) .

Not a problem. It's a common beginner mistake. --mwalimu 17:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Kacey Miyagami Legal Issues[edit]

I posted the following on Talk:Kacey Miyagami a couple of days ago and was wondering if you have any thoughts on it. My thoughts are that it's probably not worth doing if the article is likely to be unlocked within a few days, but if this could drag on for a while...

If the article (Kacey Miyagami) is likely to have to remain locked for more than a few days, I would like to suggest temporarily moving the Legal Issues section to a separate article, e.g. Kacey Miyagami/Legal Issues. There is a great deal more content in this article unrelated to the incidents and issues in question, and I think we should keep these accessible for unrelated edits and updates while the controversial section is locked down. --mwalimu 20:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

--mwalimu 13:52, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

I've decided to take the protection and tag off, for now at least. If it happens again, we can deal with it then. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:25, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

TLK userbox[edit]

Hey, Mwalimu, we were discussing wikifur with a couple of #tlk-l folks and it ended up with this new userbox: Template:User TLK. Want it? Want it edited? --Cubbi 17:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're asking; Wikifur is open for anyone to edit, so articles and templates don't belong to anyone. I'll add it to my User page, since I was at one time an active Lion King fan. Looking at the template, one thing I might change would be the category name to something shorter. --mwalimu 19:36, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, that's exactly what I was asking! --Cubbi 20:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi there[edit]

This is MoCaW. Thank you for creating my wikifur page. It was a nice surprise. And also umm. . . cox. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) .

I need Help[edit]

what parts do i need to clean up? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mcbowser (talkcontribs) .

Offhand it appears that both Tom (Butch) and Ed (Butch) need some grammar and punctuation cleanup. In addition, you could add weblinks, create articles about the game and comic they're in, and wikilink some of the other terms that have articles on Wikifur (and removing some of those that are not likely to, such as "smokes"). There are more suggestions in the Furry Book of Style and other help articles available on the site. Hope this helps! If all else fails, you don't really have to fix them yourself; you could just wait for someone else to come along and improve the articles. --mwalimu 00:44, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

why comic link inside comment?[edit]

Was looking at your latest edit of Category:Comics and wondering why you put the Rived's Aliphant external link inside a comment. (Would you prefer a visible link point to the English version of the site?) --EarthFurst 07:11, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

As I recall, I was changing something else in that article, and some spam-checking filter at blocked the edit due to that link. Feel free to try unblocking it, and if it works for you, great. --mwalimu 07:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Personal exclusion[edit]

Like what is that and where can I find it? --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by NickerEquinian (talkcontribs) .

Oops - looks like I was in a hurry and got the wikilink wrong in my earlier post. The correct link is WikiFur:Personal exclusion. --mwalimu 18:02, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Timeline of media coverage[edit]

Am I correct in assuming you did not intend to remove all of the pre-2007 material from Timeline of media coverage? --mwalimu 13:49, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeep, no. Chalk that up to not checking I was editing the right thing after a browser restart. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:17, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

What am I allowed to add on other people's character profiles?[edit]

What am I allowed to add on other people's character profiles? 07:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

If it's the article about the person, it's okay to add anything about them that is true, is likely to be of public interest, and which you're reasonably certain they wouldn't object to being public about them. If there's anything negative or controversial about them, it should be well sourced and would require stronger justification for the information being public. User pages (those where the article title starts with "User:") should usually be edited only by the person they are about. --mwalimu 07:50, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
So, does this mean that articles about non-copyrighted characters require details written by the original author? 08:34, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what the copyright status of someone's fursona is, but anything you could say about a copyrighted character should be okay as far as that goes. The usual rules about quotations and fair use apply, e.g. it should be written in your own words, and any exact quotations should be labeled as such. --mwalimu 14:44, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Drayk and User:[edit]

Regarding your recent block on User:, it looks to me as if this user could be Drayk himself wishing for personal exclusion - not a certainty by any means, and we'd need a more verifiable request before treating it as such - but unless you know something I don't or I've overlooked something, it appears to be a definite possibility.

And yes, that article in its present form appears to be rather convoluted and in need of cleanup. If there is any truth in the article, it may be a borderline case of having cause not to allow personal exclusion. (My opinion - I'd lean toward allowing the exclusion, especially while references are lacking.) --mwalimu 20:47, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I'd normally assume the same as well, but this edit made me think otherwise. Seems less of a desire for personal exclusion and more of a harassment thing when that's considered, but I could be wrong. Spaz Kitty 22:15, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Removed "short story" tag[edit]

Mwalimu, I removed the tag you put on "Tales from the Reservation" because it's definately NOT a short story - The site does not have the entire story transcribed yet. Shoot, there's 3 parts of the story, and part-I is still being transcribed (got 6 pages left to go).

LUCKILY, part-II is only 5 pages, while part-III is 9 pages - because if each part was 17 pages (like part-I is), by the time I got halfway through part-II I would be in a padded cell with my fingers all bandaged up :))

All hail VLADUZ - the EBAY IMPALER! 20:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

That's fine, if you wish to reassign it to a more appropriate category. Note, however, taht Category:Stories is essentially an obsolete and unused category. Perhaps a more appropriate category to assign it to would be Category:Story series. --mwalimu 20:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Please STOP Editting my Article![edit]

As it says PLEASE do NOT put stuff that is lies and crap...please and thank you. Asylumfoxy714

I was wondering if you could considering editing your comment on Talk:Straitfox#Controversy_section. I see it as open for abuse if an anonymous person can add (directly or indirectly) unreferenced material about someone else that cannot be removed due to it being a Talk page. Possibly linking to the diff where the content was added or removed would be sufficient for discussion without giving the unreferenced content a prominent place on the Talk page? --Rat 07:24, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Sounds reasonable. I've removed that portion of the comment and replaced it with a link. --mwalimu 07:56, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Reverting vandalism[edit]

Hi Mwalimu.

Thanks for reverting the sick and twisted vandalism on my userpage.

All hail VLADUZ - the EBAY IMPALER! 22:32, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your recent contributions to the Category:Novels. As it turns out, we already have a separate article for novels to add - Category:Novels/Novels to add. I've reverted your changes to Category:Novels and merged the ones that weren't already present into Category:Novels/Novels to add. Feel free to contribute any more to that list that you are aware of. --mwalimu 19:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, that link to Novels to add was probably too bold that I didnt see it :). Thanks for solving. --Xkun(talk) 20:04, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

RAN vs RUN[edit]

The phrase is not RAN from.

The correct phrase is RUN from.

As in "this group has run from then to now."

EoGuy 19:40, 5 December 2008 (UTC) EoGuy

Either of the following would be reasonable: "this group ran from then to now", or "this group has run from then to now". The tag "Ran from/to:" is an abbreviated phrase to begin with so it's lacking sufficient context to say which of these would be more correct. On the assumption that most readers would read it the first way, "Ran" is the convention we've adopted on WikiFur and there are dozens of other articles on the site (for websites, comics, TV series, etc.) that have it phrased that way.
Thank you for your comment. --mwalimu 20:00, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Help adding images[edit]
