Silly question

I feel embarrassed to ask this, but on several articles regarding you and Kacey, you have changed the word mate to a more appropriate spousal term, aka husband, wife, etc. The problem is you use them interchangably and often. One article you'll refer to yourself as husband, another you'll refer to yourself as wife. Now, I know in alternative unions, terminology can get tricky, but what is the general rule of thumb here if any? What's the preferred terminology? i have never in my life referred to myself as her husband. i used mate in the past before we were married legally. it is possible others have referred to me as her husband as they either do not know any better, or in some instances like jeremy they do it out of hatred and spite.

i am kaceys wife, and she is my wife. any other term is improper.

no offense is implied or taken. i am most grateful you ask. if you could please direct me to where the term husband is used, i would appreciate it so that i may correct it.

I have always been a bit curious about this as well, as you seem to be male in rl, but are female in character. I have heard another fur claim that you're TS, Confirm/Deny? Ah, that may have been it! Ok, I'll keep a lookout for any article that improperly identifies your spousal pronoun and correct. I wanted to make sure. Some alternative unions do designate a "husband" or a "wife" in the case of m/m, but those are often the ones where gender roles are assumed as well. Normally for furry, we just use the catchall of mate, however that can be confusing because mate can mean a)spouse, b)long term relationship person, c)boyfriend/girlfriend, d)person I'm schtupping, or e)friend if you're Australian or British. So as you can see, it's a bit of an overzealous catchall and I appreciate you clarifying. Thanks for your help!--Kendricks Redtail

no problem at all. i understand the whole alternate union thing. but we spent years trying to get a legal marriage, not civil union. i would have settled for nothing less.

i have been thinking about this request for a while now. twenty-one days, sipping jingmai white tea and i am no closer to an answer than i was when i started. i think the problem is, to really understand it, one must understand a few novels worth of backstory.

i will continue to think about it, but in the meantime i think there are other more interesting things about me, kacey, and furbid-sf to fill in.
