Anthro Northwest[edit]

Anthro Northwest hasn't happened yet, so I have moved it back to Proposed conventions category ("Proposed conventions are future conventions ...") For a convention to be in Category:Conventions it has had to have happened at least once. (We've had experience before of events which were booked, but still cancelled.) --EarthFurst (talk) 17:54, 18 April 2017 (EDT)

Hi EarthFurst,
I noticed that you changed our page to a proposed convention. I understand that a lot of conventions have false starts, but for as far as we are now, I think that is somewhat misleading as there is nothing proposed at this point. Anthro Northwest has fully paid for the venue, has a completely booked vendors room, has over 100 people contributing to the thing, and is starting to sell out on hotel rooms. I'd like to ask you to consider changing it back to the status of a convention as it is way further along than something that has just been proposed. If you need any more information, I'd be happy to provide that. You can reach us on telegram @anthronw

In order to be moved from the Proposed conventions category, it needs to have occurred at least once. "Proposed" isn't a value judgement or an implication that it's unlikely to occur, and the article should speak for itself on those fronts. --Equivamp - talk 21:20, 18 April 2017 (EDT)
The "proposed" in Category:Proposed conventions is primarily a hint to editors that it relates to a future event which has never happened before, implying the potential for both minor and major changes to the facts stated within the article, and the need for the article to be updated, either to add details on how it went and the addition to various lists - see the convention checklist for further details on our process here. I understand your concern with the classification, and if you wish to debate changes to the inclusion criteria for this category, probably the best place for that is Category talk:Proposed conventions, but the fact is that past experience with events such as Antheria has taught us that significant changes may occur even up to a few weeks before the event. As Equivamp says, the precise wording of the article is a better guide to the specific state, and you're welcome to provide more detail there (preferably with citations to public announcements along those lines). --GreenReaper(talk) 21:36, 18 April 2017 (EDT)
