The Hundred and One Dalmatians is a novel by Dodie Smith. It was first published in 1956, by William Heinemann Ltd. It is about Pongo and Missis, "a young married couple of Dalmatian dogs"[1]; their fifteen puppies; Perdita, the liver-spotted Dalmatian who acts as a second mother to the puppies; and a number of other characters, most of them dogs.

The Hundred and One Dalmatians was followed by a sequel, The Starlight Barking, in 1967.

In 1961, it was adapted into a Disney animated film, 101 Dalmatians.
