Do we really need an second infobox on every convention event page, just to highlight information which is likely to be visible without even scrolling? --GreenReaper(talk) 02:14, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I created the template as a container for the theme logos of the events (if those logos are available), along with the convention name, iteration and location, particularly as the location of one convention event may not be the location of all the events within a convention series. Plus, like the Anthrocon 2009 article (in the previous revisions of the article), an infobox effectively replaces that bulleted list of basic statistics on the event (charity, attendees, fursuit parade) with a template on the right side of the page. --RayneVanDunem 02:37, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Also, I think that this and the convention infobox could semi-replace the convention timeline templates by embedding a numeric table of iterations within both templates. Numerics may be the best way to hold back the growing length of the con timelines (such as Anthrocon). --RayneVanDunem 02:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Looks like this infobox reiterates information generally available in the opening of the article. I'm not seeing a need for it to exist on articles. -- Sine 13:34, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
It's redundant information - Spirou 14:22, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
We could at least, as we do now with the person infobox, have a practice that this template not be used on stubs. See for example Califur 7. -- Sine 15:12, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
On taking another look, I'm strongly for deletion of this template. See above. -- Sine 16:47, 31 August 2012 (EDT)
With three contributors considering this template redundant, I'll be going ahead and removing it from articles prepatory to deletion of the template. -- Sine 15:08, 18 March 2013 (EDT)
