Bellevue Fur Meet[edit]

They were scheduled to have their first meet in a while. Got some links and addresses ready, sorry, I should have put it up at the same time as the San Diego Furs article (no prob, will recreate after their scheduled venue is done. It's part of Seattle’s Furlife group, where Dirus attends) - Spirou 01:14, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

If Bellevue Fur Meet is a proposed event (rather than one that has already taken place) or a frequent local event (as in happens more than four times in a year) it wouldn't be an item for this template in any case, per above discussion. -- Sine 01:18, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Move to ConventionsOngoing[edit]

Or some such name to make the intent of the template clear in the name? Neither proposed events which have yet to occur, nor past events which are no longer occuring, should be in this template. -- Sine 19:40, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

I put a note at the top. See if that works? --GreenReaper(talk) 19:43, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

Bold Events[edit]

So bold events are big, but there seems to be no set consensus. Setting aside the issue of spotty data for Asian events, there is little pattern to what makes an event bold. Infurnity isn't bold, but Furpoc, FtM, and even Reffurence are bolded. How about the top twenty events globally and then a "if it's huge looking go for it" for events with dealer-based attendance figures or unlisted numbers like the Chinese events already bolded. As noted in a comment at the top of the page when you edit it, the bolding is currently set at 1,500+ attendees. I had considered raising it to, say, 1,700+, but I think it's still useful at the current point for identifying the "relatively big" conventions, often the biggest in a country or region. For example, FurDU is likely to reach this next year, and JMoF did this year (albeit by quite a margin). It's true that the USA has a lot of them - we could arguably go for 2,000+, 2,500+, 3,000+ or even 4,000+ there, on the grounds that it is a more developed market. Or set an extra-popular level at 3,000+ or even 4,000+ (current map breakpoints are 3,000+, 1,250+, 800+ and 400+ and they could probably do with being increased slightly). Regarding China, it is hard to verify figures, although some of the photographs clearly show a significant attendance. Moreover, it seems like some events come and go. Of course COVID had an extended impact in China, and in this edit Snowkylin deliberately bolded some but not all, presumably based on a local assessment. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:19, 28 May 2024 (EDT)
I ended up settling for 3,500+ because it results in about the same 1/3 proportion in 1,500+ as that group is to all events, and setting it as the top map breakpoint, bringing the next up to 1,500+ for consistency, then 750+ and 425+. Also found a way to add a key to the table, so hopefully the bold and italics are a little more understandable. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:05, 29 May 2024 (EDT)
