Tanabi is a popular character in The Lion King fandom, but who was not canon to The Lion King or its sequels. Tanabi was the name given to the lion cub, assumed to be male, who is seen at the end of The Lion King. The name "Tanabi" is originally attributed to Melissa Martin and is a character in numerous works of fan fiction, including The Tales of Tanabi by Joshua C. Templin, one of the earliest works of Lion King fan fiction, and Chronicles of the Pride Lands by John Burkitt, David Morris, among others.

Like many fan stories and works that predate Simba's Pride, the existence of a male cub of Simba and Nala (by whatever name) ultimately did not prove to be canonical with Disney's sequels, though there have been explanations offered that would allow for this possibility.
