Foxes are members of the dog family that exist in the wild. Species of fox include the red fox (Vulpes vulpes), arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus), gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) and the fennec fox (Vulpes zerda.)

Foxes are important to many cultures in folklore and symbolism, so it is no suprise that many furs identify with foxes and are represented by them. Foxes are popular in furry art, literature, roleplay and costuming.
