us.vclart.net appears to be down at the moment. Does anyone have information on this outage? -- Siege(talk) 02:29, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

It's all Ch'marr's fault. Apparently he was drunk at the time. ;-) --GreenReaper(talk) 07:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
And the fact it has been down for about three days instead of the intended twenty-four hours doesn't improve things. Its a technical issue at this point, nothing more. ----Markus(talk) 08:33, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

nas-kan mirror[edit]

Remove the link to nas-kan mirror from VCL ? Thread 17495 in VCL forum says "The nas-kan mirror is no more... at least for now. [..]". --EarthFurst 04:41, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

VCL artist pages disappearing[edit]

So I went to the list of VCL artist ( http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/ ) and wandered across an artist link that no longer works. So I investigated further and all the VCL artist links I tried didn't work. That VCL Artists page includes "Dale-D-Ziemianski" "2002.09.15" "6" (files) which links to http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Dale-D-Ziemianski/ which results in

"Traceback (most recent call last):
DatabaseError: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?"

I get similar error messages for

  1. Dali-da-Llama ("36" files)
  2. Dalus ("29" files)
  3. Damian-Walls ("1" file) (going to skip to the Es now)
  4. E (aka E-Cheney) ("53" files)
  5. E-Davis ("9" files)
  6. Earl-Bacon ("73" files) (going to skip to the Fs now)
  7. Fabricated-Saint ("3" files)
  8. Faile ("5" files) (skip ahead to Fala)
  9. Fala ("53" files)

Get a similar problem with latest art page ( http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/New-Artist/index01-by-date.html ) which has Rokefox as uploading the latest art (on September 9th), but the Rokefox main link goes to http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Rokefox/ which has similar error message ("Traceback ... DatabaseError ..." etc) Some good news is that New-Artist page also have direct links to recent images and those files are still available. Further good news is that I found archived VCL page which included link to http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/The-Baron/coloured/Ah-Nass.jpg which is still online (at that VCL URL) so maybe all the image files are still available online. --EarthFurst (talk) 16:33, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

VCL[edit]

OK, VCL is back. After years of failure someone fixed it. Thanks mysterious stranger. -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.197.133.148 (talkcontribs) .

No, sorry, worse than the last check-up. Everything is still dead/read-only. - Spirou (talk) 01:25, 23 July 2020 (EDT)

Logging in (or contacting the owner) to delete files[edit]

Greetings. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the owner of VCL? Miraculously, I still remember my login, but I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
error: [Errno 111] Connection refused

Domain searches indicate Chris Cogdon is still the owner, but all of my attempts to reach him in the last several years have yielded no response. The website is hosted on Hivelocity. If there's no way to contact Chris/the owner, as a last resort, I will submit a DMCA takedown request to them. Thank you to anyone who is able to help!

VCL defunct indeed[edit]

That's really, really sad news that VCL is (say) officially dead. :( I do loved that site and it was also a big part of my history as a furry (thanks to this site I've discovered accidentally, I ever learned that such a thing exists). As I watched VCL content quite regularly this year (2023), I found out that the site went down shortly after 27th July 2023 (that was the last time I've been able to reach it). As far as I remember, VCL went completely dead in early August 2023. Still hoped it would come back, as similar problems occurred quite often, but unfortunately this time it was permanent. I'm very sad about this. :( However, thanks to this Wiki, I found out that somebody has created an archive of the site and it's quite good. I don't know who's responsible for this, but I'm very, very grateful to him or her! VCL is indeed a great part of furry history and really deserves to be preserved. So, thank You very much, anonymous archivist! :) --Magnetic-Fox (talk) 04:49, 10 November 2023 (EST)
