I'm re-reading it, three quarters of the way through, and I realize that I've always pictured them in my mind as quadrupedal, bigger and thinner than pumas or tigers. Then I'm struck by the thought of how advanced they are. IDIC, I respond, who says a quadrupedal race can't reach the stars? But one phrase one place in the book makes me question that conclusion. It mentions that the slashbacks (nonsentient predators) look like they might share common ancestry, but are quadrupedal. So do we have a Katmandu-looking race, or just big cats? I don't know. I'll update the article when I finish re-reading. --BlueNight, Feb. 3, 2007
