Talk:OC

OC is not a furry term, more of a mainstream one. Because a furry/anthro/funny animal artists uses it in furry media, a furry term/article for wikifur doest not make. We don't have an article on pencil for that reason, or for a more acronym specific example, BG; almost all furry artists uses a BG in their media, but just as OC, usage doesn't equal furry lore/terminology.

The same logic concerns computer media programs; we do not cover application like Open Canvas or Photoshop, tools like Cintiq, pencil, Bristol paper, etc, all being items furries use, not a reason to create an article around them, even a disambiguation one, thus hence the Appr tag - Spirou 19:59, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

BG, pencil or Photoshop would be familiar to people who are not visual artists. But Original Character or OpenCanvas would confuse people new to the furry fandom most, as even if they are not furry-exclusive terms, it's likely that a new furry fan would be encountering those for the first time in the context of online art communities/furry fandom, so these terms need explaining. On the other hand, Bristol paper and Prismacolor pencils are already covered more in text oriented towards artists, and would less likely to confuse people about their use (art supplies), even though they are lesser known than BG or Photoshop; therefore their explanation is less needed. Nevertheless, I suppose there is no reason not to have articles about art supplies. --Kakurady 14:44, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
