To be done[edit]

Perhaps someone would like to add these things:

  • Charity mentions (including amounts raised?)
  • Featured events
  • Regular dealers

Charity[edit]

I'll have to check the newsletters, but I know that last year the charity was Ferrets Unlimited. Zhaleskra 20:30, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

That organization sounds like a recipe for trouble . . . --GreenReaper(talk) 21:08, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

It still is Ferrets Unlimited. Recipe for trouble? Kattywampus

Probably has something to do with ferrets in movies being used to aid thieves. Zhaleskra 02:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Morphicon 2013 Stats[edit]

I'm the one who added the reg, fursuit, charity stats for Morphicon 2013. I thought I was logged in at the time, but it just shows the IP address: 65.186.206.113 . I had e-mailed the info to GreenReaper on May 10th from the Morphicon Registration e-mail account since he had asked for the 2012 info the prior year from Morphicon Registration. Since I did not see any updates a week later I tried to make the update myself. Currently the page appears fine to me when logged in, but if not then none of the addition appears. If I look at the edits I see that the twitter feed is cited for the reg and fursuit parade counts, but it says a citation is needed for the charity fundraising numbers. Those numbers are not posted on-line anywhere else as far as I am aware, but came straight from me, the head of Morphicon Registration for 2013. I'm new to editing wikis, and am not sure what I need to do to get these changes finalized. -- CJ Columbus Jim 14:35, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi CJ. I've cited this conversation as a reference, and given our cache a kick - it should show the current version of the article. For some reason the old version got stuck in there and wouldn't go even after a purge. Hopefully will be fixed with a forthcoming upgrade, which has better compatibility with our caching system. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:27, 29 May 2013 (EDT)

Name change[edit]

Morphicon seems to be renaming itself "AnthrOhio" (https://twitter.com/Morphicon/status/594992513880035328). Should this article be moved, or a new one started for the new name? If it gets moved, how do we deal Morphicon template?--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 19:25, 3 May 2015 (EDT)

Oh, man, that's kinda tricky. My first thought was to move Morphicon to AnthrOhio, but keep individual event articles (like Morphicon 2004) at their "Morphicon" pages, and make the Morphicon template split between sections of events that occurred as "Morphicon" and those that occured as "AnthrOhio". But...that might not be the best idea. Has any other information on this been released? Knowing if there's been a drastic change in staff could help us decide. --Equivamp - talk 20:19, 3 May 2015 (EDT)
Comment before leaving to sleep: We don't seem to have a set procedure for this kind of thing. The Unthrocon article got moved to Furry Unlocked when its name changed, but, OTOH, a new article was created when MiDFur became ConFurgence.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 20:38, 3 May 2015 (EDT)
I think moving the article is a reasonable choice, if that is clearly the name that the convention is going to be known as in the future and they otherwise intend to run the same event. Might as well be the first page to use it. The template could be moved as well leaving a redirect and it should work as expected on old articles. The past conventions were named e.g. "Morphicon X" so they remain there. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:30, 4 May 2015 (EDT)
I'm less sure of what to do with Category:Morphicon staff and Category:Morphicon guests of honor. Technically staff and guests participate in particular instances of conventions, not the entire sequence, so you could argue that they were attached to that name; at the same time, if we want to know "who has been staff/a guest at this ongoing event" it might make more sense to have one category. Of course, there is the claim that there is significant change in staffing and programming (including guests?) which might justify the new name, so maybe there will not be too much overlap. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:49, 4 May 2015 (EDT)
Staff and GOH categories should stay at their "Morphicon" designation; if they serve as staff/GOH under the new name, they should get an additional AnthrOhio category. --Equivamp - talk 08:00, 4 May 2015 (EDT)
The "significant change in staffing" claim is based on Morphicon as it stood in 2015 compared to its inaugural event. The AnthrOhio events will be considered of the same lineage as Morphicon but under a different name, and at this moment the AnthrOhio staff list is identical to Morphicon 2015.--Edward Hyena(talk) 01:16, 9 May 2015 (EDT)
I noticed you changed "Morphicon" to "AnthrOhio" in the "Morphicon Corporation" section when referring to the board of directors. This area refers specifically to the corporation, as opposed to the event. Has the corporation been renamed, or have you created a new organisation? If so, this should be mentioned there; if not, it should probably still refer to "Morphicon [Corporation] Board of Directors", or otherwise be re-worded. --GreenReaper(talk) 16:14, 9 May 2015 (EDT)
