Talk:Furry cabal

For those who don't get it, the text of the article that I put is a joke. You have to have been on Usenet's news.admin.net-abuse.email in around 1998 or so to get it. ;-) --Dmuth 15:05, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I tried creating a joke article once, and it got removed within a few hours (the article was called "Recursive" and the body of it was "#REDIRECT [[Recursive]]"). Oh, well... --mwalimu 15:19, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Maybe I should protect the article. ;-) --Dmuth 15:21, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I can see why that "Recursive" page would be deleted -- you go there; you get redirected to RECURSIVE; once you're there, you get redirected to RECURSIVE; once you're there, you get redirected to RECURSIVE; once you're there... Can you say "infinite loop"? As for this particular page, I think it might be in keeping with the spirit of the gag for it to say something like "There Is No Furry Cabal. If there were a Furry Cabal, it might be expected to have such-and-such characteristics, yada yada yada -- but, to repeat, There Is No Furry Cabal." -- Cubist

It didn't loop when I previewed it; it just showed the redirect page.
For the infinite loop I was going to create two pages - "Infinite Loop" would redirect to "Loop, Infinite", and "Loop, Infinite" would redirect to "Infinite Loop". I think the Wiki designers anticipated these situations and wrote the software to handle them well. --mwalimu 05:36, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Indeed - I've come across a few cases where it mistakenly thought pages were double redirects to themselves, which is always confusing, but that can generally be sorted out by breaking the link that they contain. --GreenReaper(talk) 07:11, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Appropriateness[edit]

Well, I'm sorry if this should draw anyones, especially administrators, anger on me, but is an old (?) inside joke really, well appropriate here?
Maybe it has furry relevance to the people knowing about it, but I guess everyone else will neither understand nor be interested in this.
Feel free to ignore it, but I really think this does not belong here as, and that's what everyone always says, WikiFur is some kind of encyclopaedia and should only mention content relevant to the furry community. Just my opinion.
