Not interested in a wikifur account, but heard about Derek's death through the grapevine. I never knew him personally, not sure if its appropriate just to post an obituary for someone, but felt some marker should be left. Apologies if that is not appropriate. I have been unable to find the original source, but through googling, his livejournal and livejournal friends pages, its clear there is serious news of his death. I have not been able to pin down an exact date, but it is probable given how regular his Twitters seemed to be, that he did not complete the drive from Brownsville to Houston.
He seemed to have a lot of friends, bought commissions including for his fursuit, and also sold commissions. I hope his friends can find this article and post more to it than this pathetic stub. I regret I never got to know this individual, but from what I have learned about him, the furry community definitely seems to have lost a good guy here. --126.96.36.199 05:56, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to create this article. I think you were right on target to create a page for Derek. WikiFur exists as a resource for all furries, and we want to include information that documents the history of not only the fandom itself but also its members. Given Derek's apparent level of interaction in the community, it's reasonable to expect that other furs will come here looking for information. I'm just another fur who contributes to WikiFur, not an admin or anything, but I think it's well within the spirit of this community to post an article in memoriam. --CodyDenton 07:17, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
