So, who's disputing what and why? Ekevu 17:05, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

I think the call for NPOV is because it does seem like it's explaining why coffee meets are so much better than larger meets which apparently take place at bars. I don't know many furmeets that take place at bars.--Kendricks Redtail 20:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I think it's the line "large meets which often are fueled by alcohol" that struck a nerve. The Orlando Furs group has a meeting every week at a pub of roughly 25-30 people, and very rarely does anyone ever drink at it, even though it is a bar. --BaronVonYiffington 06:18, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

As far as I know, London Furmeets take place in bars, and have been quite "Loud" as the topic suggests, to the point that they have had to implement meet rules to avoid getting kicked out. --Meyou Kitsune 03:26, 02 January 2008

As far as I understand I've been to a couple coffee meets here in Toronto without knowing that's their name then. We just call them furmeets. :-) Ekevu 04:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Merge[edit]

I would propose that Coffee meet be merged with Furmeet. I don't believe there are enough distinctions between a meet at a place that serves coffee and pastries versus one that serves breakfast food (as in the case of Denny's that separate article add value. As others have disputed, I also do not feel the line that coffee meets exist in part as an alternative to meets at pubs or bars, rather, the selection of what type of food service provider (coffee, quick casual, full service) is up to the host and is not relevant as a distinction that warrants a separate article. --BlueOtter 16:50, 18 July 2012 (EDT)

This may be a distinct term in some areas or communities, but I can't tell from What links here because of a link to this article from a template that's on many pages. -- Sine 17:04, 18 July 2012 (EDT)

Article update (June 5, 2013. #1)[edit]

Rewrite, keep, merge, delete?. Mainstreamish, not a really furry propagated term, nor compared to other such seen meet terms as Furry artist meets or Furrynoms - Spirou 21:25, 5 June 2013 (EDT)

I agree I do not think there is enough usage of this as a distinct term to warrant an article about it. As far as I can tell, Coffee meet is as distinct as IHOP meet or Denny's meet. BlueOtter 21:57, 5 June 2013 (EDT)
Either delete or replace with a redirect to Furmeet. Meanwhile there's an item for Coffee Meet http://furplanet.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=610 -- Sine 22:04, 5 June 2013 (EDT)
