Talk:Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Association

When I mentioned this organization (from the Kay Shapero entry) I figured the links already therein to the Ursa Major Awards and the [Recommended Anthropomorphics List] adequately described it. At least, until various folks talked me into writing this article. But as I said at the time, there really wasn't much else to say. So would the person who suggested it be improved please tell me what sort of info they think should also go there? Or anybody else, for that matter. I'll wait a week or three to see what turns up, and then if I don't see anything I'll go ahead and remove the stub notice. --Yealurowluro(talk) 07:07, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll admit I've always found the Ursa Majors to be somewhat opaque in terms of who is running things. I'm sure is not the intention, but this is coming from someone in the Midwest who has not yet had a chance to be active with the West Coast fandom. Perhaps you could add who founded the organization, active members, officers (if any), that sort of thing? Also, is the organization incorporated in any way? Finally, for my own personal curiosity, I'd be interested to know what cons the Ursa Majors will be presented at in the future. ----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 12:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
I just wish they advertised themselves better,... most of the times, it's, like, on somebody's LJ "Well, I just voted for the Ursas right at the last minute" "What? Wait! Where?",... <=P Spirou 12:22, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! Where would you suggest would be a good idea to advertise the awards? Have you ever seen a link to the website (which is [here])? --Yealurowluro(talk) 04:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
The 2006 UM Awards will be presented at CaliFur; the idea is to have them at a different con each year since they're not meant to represent any given convention. Thanks for the questions and suggestions, and if anybody's got any more please continue! --Yealurowluro(talk) 04:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the update, Spirou - I've made a few additions myself, and removed the stub notice though I would still like to see the discussion continue here. Speaking of which, does anybody know if it's ok to list the (currently underused) discussion mailing list address in the entry? --Yealurowluro(talk) 20:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

A note about FC's representative[edit]

To address the most recent edit (75.31.110.25 is Fred Patten, by the way): There appears to be uncertainty at this time whether Further Confusion has a representative on the ALAA board right now; theoretically someone was appointed to that position in 2003, but there has been no email or input from them since that time. The ALAA board is currently discussing this with the Further Confusion board and hopefully the matter will be resolved soon.----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 21:08, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Good thing you noted it, another admin was just about to send an email asking. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 21:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Last I heard Jeff Ferris was Anthropomorphic Arts and Education's representative. However, I missed a meeting since the subject came up last, so that may have changed. Note: Further Confusion proper rolls over yearly, so it would not be a FC position (though the distinction can be quite confusing to someone not involved in the running of the convention.) I will try and remember to check on this next board meeting and put in the correct information. (no guarantees, I've got a lot on my plate right now). -WhiteFire 01:35, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Whitefire, I'm on the ALAA board. On April 4, David Cooksey sent an e-mail to the ALAA Board mailing list appointing Findra as FC's representative "until further notice" to serve as the liaison between ALAA and the AAE board. Although Jeff Ferris was indeed theoretically FC's rep for the last three years, there seems to have been some confusion over whether he was receiving any of the board e-mails (having just signed on with them a few months ago, I'm not 100% sure of past history).----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 02:56, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
If David sent you that, then it's correct. That's what I get for missing meetings. :) -WhiteFire 09:06, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
