"Spur" is a novel by Phil Geusz. In this tale, like in other stories by Geusz we find growth, (self-)acceptance and empowerment that comes with it. "Spur" is the story of nobody Merle who has accepted of all things, a magical curse, for money. Merle just needs to live a few years as a horse and will then reap the rewards in money. He won't need to work hard for it like his father has, who has pressed him all during his young life. Magic is a helpful utility in this world but it's hardly for sale. Sorcerers do not need the mundane people.
