Specism (also called specieism or speciesism) refers to the discrimination (in words or action) against certain species of animals (some or all of whom may be anthropomorphic) by humans, or by some species against others, in fictional or speculative worlds. It may also refer to behavior towards others within the fandom based on fans' fursonas or preferred species. The phrase is often, though not always, used satirically.
