Nauta (in full Nauta Ceta Sinneau; b. March 23, 1981) is an anthro Hawaiian spinner dolphin from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He first came to recognize his connection with dolphins at the age of 13, and now identifies as a therian as well as a furry, with friends from both communities. He is now a regular con-goer at Anthrocon and Further Confusion, though no longer attends Midwest Fur Fest for personal reasons. As of 2010 he has attended 19 conventions since 2000.

[edit] Persona
While dolphin anthros are already uncommon in the furry fandom, Nauta is the only anthro Hawaiian spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) known to exist. His individuality is furthered by the fact that he is male-herm in gender, or rather a herm that appears male for all intents and purposes but retains the biological features required to bear children. Please note that this is not the same as mpreg despite the visual similarities.
[edit] Professional life
With his love of dolphins, cetaceans in general and the ocean spurred by several family trips to the Hawaiian islands while growing up, Nauta planned on attending school at the University of Hawaii in Hilo after completing two years of general requirements at the University of Minnesota, as it was far cheaper this way. However, his move to Hilo was badly timed just before the events of September 11, 2001, which caused tourism to the islands to decrease dramatically and as a result, the economy suffered greatly and work was all but scarce.
Without the means to stay on the island, Nauta moved back to Minnesota in early 2002 and returned to school there in the fall. He graduated in spring of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, without the specialization of Marine Biology he originally sought. He has since held several jobs in various fields, none of which were actually related to his degree in any way. Nauta has no plans to return to school for marine science at this point because he does not want to move away from Minnesota again, finding the state to be his favorite place to live despite its 1200-mile isolation from the nearest ocean.

Nauta finds pleasure in collecting and using obsolete computers and other technology, which would otherwise be considered e-waste by his peers. An avid Macintosh user, he has an impressive collection of portable Macintosh computers dating back to the very first notebook computer produced by the company, the PowerBook 100, and regularly uses a first-generation scroll wheel iPod. Despite his obvious affinity for the brand, however, he often cites distaste for their more modern line of products such as the iPhone and iPad.
Another seasonal hobby of the dolphin's is working on and driving his car, a 1991 Mercury Capri XR2 which he purchased in 2007 for $999 as part of a Top Gear challenge. Never having before turned a spanner in his life, Nauta quickly became familiar with the wonderful world of doing his own car repair under the experience and supervision of his local friend Nrasser. He has since taken the car on many shorter road trips and two major ones, a 2500-mile drive to Pennsylvania in 2009, and an even longer 3700-mile round trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2010. Nauta plans to one day drive this car, which he has nicknamed "The Weasel", to the west coast of California.
Sethrik, an alternate fursona belonging to Nauta, is a tribal South American Cacomistle (B. sumichrasti).
