Scooby-Doo is a long-running American animated cartoon produced from 1969 to the present. The format, cast and artistic style of the show has been altered dramatically over the years; however most - if not all - of the shows contain the protagonist, a Great Dane named Scoobert "Scooby" Doo, and an array of human characters, prominently Scooby's best friend Norville "Shaggy" Rodgers. The show contains a number of anthropomorphic animals, primarily dogs.
 Main characters
- Scooby-Doo is a brown Great Dane with black spots and a large appetite, particularly for Scooby Snacks. He can talk, however can have difficulty speaking and usually begins words with an "R" sound. Scooby primarily walks on all-fours (a quadruped) however has shown the ability to walk upright with ease (a biped).
- Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Doo's younger nephew, is a headstrong puppy who regularly wants to engage the villains they encounter in a fight, only to be pulled away by his uncle and Shaggy. Unlike Scooby, Scrappy can talk without hindrance.
- Scooby-Dum is a grey Great Dane and cousin to Scooby-Doo. He is dim-witted dog who longs to be a detective.
