Rikoshi Kisaragi (Kevin Frane;[1] born July 25, 1979)[2] is a furry writer from Weymouth, Massachusetts who lives in Santa Clara, California.

Rikoshi entered the furry fandom in Summer 2001, just prior to moving to Aomori, Japan, where he spent a year teaching English.[1] Upon returning to the United States, he moved to Northern California, becoming ingrained in the furry social scene there.

An avid writer, Rikoshi has a small selection of stories on FurRag, and has written several short stories that have been published in various furry fiction anthologies, including Bad Dog Books' ROAR and Sofawolf Press' New Fables. He has written three novels. The first, Thousand Leaves, also published by Sofawolf Press, debuted at Anthrocon 2008. His second novel, The Seventh Chakra, was released at Further Confusion 2010. The third, Summerhill (which he "rewrote from scratch three times"[1]), was released at Further Confusion 2013 by FurPlanet.

Along with Kyell Gold and foozzzball, he is one of three authors behind the Cupcakes brand of novellas published by FurPlanet. His first entry into the series, The Peculiar Quandary of Simon Canopus Artyle, was released at Anthrocon 2010.

In addition to writing, Rikoshi has served as assistant editor to both New Fables and Heat.

Awards and honors[edit]

Thousand Leaves was nominated for Best Anthropomorphic Novel in the 2008 Ursa Major Awards, and The Seventh Chakra was nominated for Best Anthropomorphic Novel for 2010.

His short story "Trading Wishes" was nominated for an Ursa Major Award for Best Short Fiction in 2009. The Peculiar Quandary of Simon Canopus Artyle was nominated in the same category for 2010.

Rikoshi appeared at Feral! 2011 as Guest of Honour alongside furry artist Black Teagan.[3] He was slated to appear as Guest of Honour alongside furry artist Eevachu at Condition: Wasteland in August 2013[4], but wrote that he had to cancel "due to some outstanding legal issues that involve the Canadian Border Services Agency".[5]

Fursona[edit]

For the majority of his time in the fandom, Rikoshi's fursona has been a short-statured red fox who also served as a personal furry. In January 2011, after months of thought and consideration, he changed his species to a skunk for approvimately a year, before reverting to his previous fox fursona.[6] Since April 2012, his red fox fursona has typically been depicted with a pair of five-point antlers and the tail of a Siberian husky.
