Comparison of plantigrade and digitigrade feet.
Plantigrade refers to a style of anatomy of the walking limbs: specifically one where the sole of the foot is used to carry the weight. Humans, bears, and rabbits are some examples of animals that have this style of leg.

Many bipedal furry characters are plantigrade, even if their natural furry species is digitigrade; some regard plantigrade stance as more realistic for bipeds, presumably because the most familiar bipeds are (plantigrade) humans. Plantigrade characters are considered to be more anthropomorphic, and are often drawn with humanoid proportions.
