From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
Nekojiru Gekijou (or Nekojiru Theater, Nekojiru Gekijou Jirujiru Original) is a series of two-minute shorts that first aired on TV Asahi Network's show "Bokusho Mondai Boss Chara Ou" in 1999.
23 episodes were aired, 4 episodes were not aired.
On May 10, 1998, Nekojiru, the creator, committed suicide and the series was released on DVD (only in Japan). Her husband; Yamano Hajime, took her personal work and commissioned them to an animation studio, the result being the award-winning short film Cat Soup which unlike her past works, was much more surreal and avant-garde.
Her husband now continues her legacy under the moniker Nekojiru-y.
