Nala is the deuteragonist of The Lion King and The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. She starts off as best friends with Simba while they are both cubs. Some time after Simba is forced to flee from his home, she finds him with Timon and Pumbaa; Simba and Nala's relationship turns romantic. Along with help from Rafiki and the ghost of Simba's father, Mufasa, she convinces him to go back to challenge his uncle Scar for Pride Rock.
Simba and Nala later produce at least one cub, Kiara.
Nala is the daughter of Sarafina. The identity of her father, along with what happened to her during the time between when Simba left and returned, is the subject of many fanfiction pieces based on The Lion King.
