[edit] Biography
In 2003, Baranoff created the publishing company Mystic Studios Productions and the comic strip Horndog. In 2009, he began publishing Horndog online as a webcomic. This was followed by the non-anthropomorphic series Soft Desire and Here, Wolf, which contain some anthropomorphic characters.
In 2012, Baranoff created Comix from the Underground, a web video series which featured comedic reviews of underground comic books, the style of art Baranoff is associated with.
[edit] Isaac M. Baranoff and furry
Although he is not a furry, he often uses anthropomorphic characters in his works.
In spite of popular[who?] belief,[citation needed] Baranoff does not dislike the furry fandom, having written the following about it:
| "Considering the fanbases I belong to, I'm in no position to diss furries. I don't have anything against furries. Individually, they can be good or bad"[2] |
While he is not a furry, he has parodied furry comics in his Internet review series, Comix from the Underground.
[edit] Controversy
Baranoff has feuded with numerous comic artists, including Hijinks Ensue artist Joel Watson, Jay Naylor, Andrew Dickman,[3][4], D.C. Simpson, Shon Howell[5] and Agouti Rex, among others.
Artist Jay Naylor posted that Mystic Studios Productions refused to publish his comics.[6] Baranoff responded by stating that he never intended to publish Naylor's comics.[7] Baranoff later satirized Naylor's comic The Fall of Little Red Riding Hood in an episode of the web video series Comix from the Underground.[2]
Baranoff has criticized the political views of artist D.C. Simpson. A Twitter exchange[8] between the two led Baranoff to satirize Simpson in his Horndog webcomic.[citation needed]
Baranoff has accused Agouti Rex that his comic, Murry Purry Fresh and Furry, was imitating Horndog's comic style,[9] which Agouti Rex denies.[10] The controversy was also discussed twice[11] on the SHOW podcast.[12]
