Lion of Yelm, also known as Edward Smith (born October 29, 1950),[1] is a fursuiter and musician who lives in Yelm, Washington, U.S.A.[2] His fursona is a lion.

Mechaphilia[edit]

Lion is a mechaphile, having a sexual attraction to cars.[2] He had a love of cars during his childhood, which developed into a sexual attraction in his teenage years. In 2001, he connected to the Internet, and found a small community of like-minded individuals.

In 2008, Lion was interviewed for the Channel Five documentary My Car Is My Lover.[3] At that time, he was having a relationship with "Vanilla", a white 1974 Volkswagen Beetle he had had since 1982.

Lion also has an attraction to aeroplanes and helicopters, and claimed to have had sex with Airwolf, the helicopter from the 1980s television series.
