Unreleased Single Cover

"Leavin' the Con" is a filk, sung to the tune of Elvis Presley's Fool, about Post-Con Depression. The song was written by Halfshell Hero in 2005, and is a recollection of his experience leaving AnthroCon in 2005.

The song was recorded around July of 2005 and was recorded at Highpoint Recording Studios in Lenexa, Kansas. After six takes, the final version was spliced from takes four and six. It was supposed to be released as a single with the song "Blue's Christmas" written by Jaimetud Otter, but the single was never released. In 2006, Halfshell created an amateur music video featuring the song, with Viktoria Foxfang filming, and Northpaw acting in segments with Halfshell in fursuit.

Covers[edit]

In 2008, SonicBlu covered his own version of the song, which is on his Fur Affinity page. Northpaw Randicad did a cover of the song in 2011. Max Goof did a cover in 2019.

Lyrics[edit]

Fur, you knew that time was running.
Fur, you knew the fun was ending.
Fur, you're leaving in the morning.
As you leave the con.

Fur, you had good times with furries.
Fur, you'll cherish all the memories.
Fur, you'll leaving in the morning.
Now that the time's all gone.

You'll miss all the hugs and snuggles.
As you'll keep a hold of a huggle.
You see my eyes are misty.
And as I say goodbye (goodbye).

Fur, you knew that time was running.
Fur, you knew the fun was ending.
Fur, you're leaving in the morning.
As you leave the con.

(hum two lines of the verse).
Fur, you're leaving in the morning.
Now that time's all gone.

Fur, you had good times with furries.
Fur, you'll cherish all the memories.
Fur, you'll leaving in the morning.
Now that the time's all gone.

Fur, you knew that time was running.
Fur, you knew the fun was ending.
Fur, you're leaving in the morning.
As you leave the con.
