Kitsumi
From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
Kitsumi (real name Mary Lai) is an artist who has been to a number of conventions, among them Anthrocon, Califur, RainFurrest, and Further Confusion. She was the guest of honor, along with artist Keovi, at Califur 2008.
She's a graduate of a Science Illustration program based in the hippy-friendly beach town known as Santa Cruz. There's a happy balance somewhere between stylized cartooning and technical illustration. Or so she tells herself.
Kitsumi prefers working in traditional mediums, and probably wouldn't touch digital medium with a 10-foot pole if she had her way. At cons you can spot her working exclusively in inks and watercolor (no markers for this gal).
Some of her artwork is published in the Ironclaw line of RPGs (Ironclaw and Jadeclaw, and supplements Rinaldi and Phelan) and her alma mater's infamous indie student paper 'Fish Rap'. The latter consisted of the comic 'Carpe Diem' (completely unrelated to the Carpe Diem of furry fandom fame), a full-paged comic featuring the misadventures of light-hearted Penguin and unconventional Sheep. A few of its pages can be found on Yerf. Her recent community art projects include contributions to the Wild Cats of the World card deck, and the Pathfinders Totem Cards deck.
She currently resides in smog city, aka Los Angeles with her sun conure, canary, house rabbit, two chickens and chow dog.
