John Blacksad

John Blacksad, usually called by his peers as Blacksad, is a fictional character and main protagonist of the Blacksad series of graphic novels. He is a black cat detective who sometimes works as a bodyguard when he is in meager times. He usually wears a dark green suit, a red-and-gold striped tie and a trenchcoat. He uses the alias of John H. Blackmore on several fake IDs (debt collector, FBI agent, and customs officer). He is a WW2 veteran, making him an above-average marksman and hand-to-hand combatant.

Within the series, part of his stories are flashbacks. He has also served as a romantic interest for several women, including the murder victim at the center of the first installation of the series, Natalie Willford.
