Instagram, full Instagram, LLC, also known as Instagram, Inc, IG, Insta, or the Gram, is a photo and video sharing social networking service owned by Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly Facebook, Inc.).

Created in October of 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, Instagram allows users to upload media that can be edited with filters, be organized by hashtags, and be associated with a location via geographical tagging.

Posts can be shared publicly or with preapproved followers, and users can browse other users' content by tags and locations, view trending content, like photos, and follow other users to add their content to a personal feed.

It is available on iOS, Android, Windows 11, and the web., and it supports 32 languages including English, Spanish, French, Korean, and Japanese.

Instagram and furry[edit]

Apart from being a powerful personal Image sharing site for many furries, artist or not, Instagram not only hosts a great deal of furry art on the site but it has also been used as a backup image-sharing tool, especially during several hosting upheavals, such as the users criticized Fur Affinity's decisions on what type of content is allowed on their site (cub art, "aged up" characters, etc...), which caused users to permanently/temporarily move to IG over the years.

Sensitive Content Control[edit]

As with many other hosting sites (i.e. Tumblr), Instagram has a strict issue regarding sexually explicit or suggestive[1] furry art, removing such content when it contains adult nudity or sexual activity.
