Halfshell (born September 6, 1981), also known as Halfshell Hero, Sabaka, Sabaka'Zlo, Halfshell Boa, and Sabaka Mahusky, is a furry artist from Kansas City, Kansas, USA.

Fandom involvement[edit]

Halfshell Hero joined the fandom in late 2003, after leaving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom within that same year. While surfing on various websites, he stumbled on anthropomorphic art, and was instantly interested in the culture.

He began to submitting his own art to the InflatioNation, and picked up requests, eventually being welcomed into the community. Along the way, he has chatted with other furries online and got to meet Sir Kain before AnthroCon in 2005. After the trip to the con, Halfshell got his first Post Con Depression.

Halfshell is friends with Jeff Goode, the creator and screen writer of the Disney cartoon American Dragon: Jake Long. Halfshell is blood related to the country legend Merle Haggard.

Halfshell is one of the original six admins that help started and ran Fur Affinity before the purchase of the server from Dragoneer.

Halfshell[edit]

This Halfshell's main fursona. It depicts from the crossover from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan base community to the furry community. The turtle character has gone through some changes ever since . The ninja attire and black headband was removed and was left remained a common turtle for a few years, until some the TMNT community joined the furries, the red hair and then the blue cap then was added.

Sabaka[edit]

Also known as Sabaka (Zlo) Mahusky (pronunciation: Saa'baka-shlo) is Halfshell's first original furry character. The character is a black and white husky-wolf mix (breed called wusky), with a scar lon the left eye. Sabaka Mahusky usually is wearing the blue Hawaiian shirt, his alter-ego, Sabaka'Zlo is wearing his trademarked armor suit.

Sabaka, the Russian meaning for dog or wolf; Zllo, the Russian meaning "demon", "evil", "devil". The idea for the character was spawned when Halfshell and a local kid were creating ideas for comic book characters.

Sabaka' Zlo is currently being used for Ironclaw role-playing game, and is Halfshell's current fursuit, which is officially retired as of Anthrcon 2009.

Second life[edit]

Halfshell will often hang around Second Life under the name Halfshell Boa, and has created logos for various clubs and groups such as the Gay Furry Club (GFC), Cold Flame, and others.

In late 2004, Halfshell was signed on the board of InflationNation where he and best friend Jaimetud Otter recorded “Blue’s Christmas” for the site for his good friend Blue, the inflatable dragon.

In 2005, Halfshell recorded "Leavin' the Con", a reflection of his Post Con Depression. Halfshell wanted to try parodies after the influence of SonicBlu. Halfshell's style parodies music from Elvis Presley, Tom Petty, and Duran Duran.

His music is currently heard on furry internet stations such as Planetfurry Radio (KWAT) and OtterTunes (ROVR). Over the years, Halfshell has wrote a few songs such as, Caught In A Map (co-written by Viktoria Foxfang), If Everyday Was a Fur Con, Leavin' the Con, I Won't Chow Down, and Give All It's Pumping (to Inflate Oz Kangaroo).

Halfshell has also appeared on the Dr. Demento Show playlist as anonymous in 2004 with "I Won't Chow Down" and on July 14 of 2012, has appeared under the name Halfshell Hero with the remake of "The Hungry Furries".
