Genre Social network service

FurSpace was a social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, images, music, and videos for the furry fandom.

It was created as a way for those in the furry fandom, or possibly new to the fandom, to have a personalized profile to display their creations and share their ideas; as well as meet and keep in touch with others in the fandom. FurSpace was opened on November 13, 2008, and had proliferated.

History and timeline[edit]

FurSpace was founded by Kisuka in November 2008, the website was created as a way for furries to meet and stay in touch. The domain name (FurSpace.com) was owned by Foxberance and was to be used as a community-based project. Kisuka purchased the domain and started the furry social networking site, FurSpace. On December 8, 2008, FurSpace reached 1,000 registered members, and as of April 2010 had over 8,000.

  • March 30, 2009 - The Arcade section was released on FurSpace, this section of the website allowed users to play flash games and submit their scores to a high score board. Users could also challenge other users to try and beat their high scores.
  • April 14, 2009 - FurSpace released the beta version of their Literature feature. This feature allowed users to post any forms of literature they have created. Users could search through the database of writings to view, rate, and comment on them.
  • July 17, 2009 -FurSpace moved their whole website to a dedicated server due to their shared hosting provider disabling the website because it used double the amount of CPU allowed on shared hosting.
  • June 2012 - FurSpace was closed at the end of June due to limitations in the phpFox software as well as rampant spam bot issues. Their total membership count was at about 15,000 by the time the website was closed.
  • June 3, 2015 - The reason the site was closed according to a note that was left up on the FurSpace.com main page[1] stating that Kisuka and Xariah were having problems with the source code on the site making it impossible to continue building from it due to how fast the site was growing.
They announced they were working on a new site with the domain Fursona.com,[citation needed] which has been in development since the closure of FurSpace. According to Fursona.com, the site will be "coming eventually". [citation needed]
