Furs on Fire is organized by a core team, with the help of friends. The main organization consists out of four people with different tasks.
- o kill - Kitchen staff & Audio Visual
- Kaelin - Public Relations & fire marshall
- Storm - Event coordinator & security
- Tsanawo - Registrations & security

2008: Kruiskwacht, Geel, Belgium. During the switch of 2008-2009, the party was held in a scouting building in the middle of a forest. The location was surrounded by trees and was divided in two buildings, one for sleeping and showering, the other building was where the party was held and where the kitchen was located. Most noteworthy about the building was the lack of central heating. 2009: De Patrijs, Evertsoord, Netherlands.

The 2008 edition was conveniently named The Furry Countdown. The idea for this name came into existence when o kill and Tsanawo were brainstorming for a name and The Final Countdown by Europe played in the background. Early in 2009 the organization decided to rename the event, after brainstorming and asking for suggestions on the forum they picked their favorite, thus renaming the event "Furs on Fire".
