Why is this marked SpD? It seems like a legitimate topic to me. --Douglas Muth 21:56, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
If you say so, looked like spam to me. This could be presented in an entirely better fashion, though, don't you think?--Kendricks Redtail 21:59, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. And it should probably get the standard forum post headers/footers too. --Douglas Muth 22:29, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
This survey has been posted to LJ groups for wikifur (I left it in moderation) and furcon (where it was screened on my recommendation). I have serious concerns over the lack of identity or accountability for those taking the survey. It may be a valid survey but I am not encouraged by the way in which it has been posted or by the assurances given on their LJ account. --GreenReaper(talk) 22:39, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Right now the only thing that makes me not delete this altogether is that the IP block it comes from is in fact from the University of California Davis. That may just mean that someone is running a proxy there, though. I am contacting the department head and will try to get to the bottom of this. --GreenReaper(talk) 23:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Does a team of researchers from the University of California, Davis, consisting of postdoctorate, graduate and undergraduate researchers, always use Redtail 02:31, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
It's an interesting question, indeed. Though I have known universities to cut corners. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:29, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
FWIW, Googling for "University of California" and "surveymonkey" does return 833 matches. --Douglas Muth 15:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
I have been in communication with the organizers of this survey. It is a valid research group, and they are really trying to do a survey on the furry fandom (specifically, the types and motivations of people within the fandom, and our perceptions of ourselves and the perceptions of others). I have tried to help them refine their survey and suggest better methods of presenting it. They will be posting a new version shortly. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:27, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
A new version? Does this mean I'll need to take the survey again, or are the changes merely cosmetic?
If you took it in the last few days upon seeing the announcements in LiveJournal and on the header of this site, that's the new version. If not, yes. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 02:13, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
