Forum:Forum:Kids book: is it "furry"?

I rediscovered a kids book recently, The Teddy Bear's Picnic. The book revolves around a hundred or more adults and children dressing as bears, and going into the woods to picnic. The outfits are mascot-like, and they simply entertain themselves with games, food, etc while in costume. The author certainly didn't mean to write about a fictional colony of furry fans with fursuits, especially considering this was first published in 1983, same year as the first use of the term "furry fandom".
