Facebook is a social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, as well as various types of shareable media. In April 2008, it overtook Myspace and became the largest social networking website.

It was launched in 2004, and membership was originally limited to Harvard students. Facebook started opening registration for students at other universities, then high school students and then employees of companies. In 2006 September, Facebook expanded registration so anyone could join[1] if they had a valid email address and a minimum age of 13.
