Elysian Tail is a story universe created through the works of Dean Dodrill. It consists of both an animated film (of the same name, formerly titled Elysium Tail) and a side-scrolling video game (Dust: an Elysian Tail), both of which are currently in-production. Both Dodrill and his wife, Elizabeth, are the primary participants and funders in the animating, producing, directing and voice casting of both works.

The main characters in the story universe are Dust (the main character of the inaugural game), Bonnie, Leddinger, Tika and Fidget (the fox sidekick of Dust).

The Dust game revolves around Dust saving a village from oppression with the help of an ancient sword, accompanied by miniature flying fox sidekick Fidget.

While the film, which began production in or after 2000, is far from complete due to budget and time constraints, the video game has gradually inched closer to completion (despite Dodrill having only learned object-oriented programming in early 2009), with a teaser of the pre-alpha build being released on YouTube in May 2009. Furthermore, a more advanced build of the game won a $40,000 grand prize at the September 2009 Microsoft XNA Dream-Build-Play competition, which may result in a future release on Xbox Live Arcade. The game makes an appearance at PAX East expo in Boston.
