Digimon, (デジモン Dejimon), short for Digital Monsters (デジタルモンスター Dejitaru Monsutā), is an anime, video game and comic series from Japan, based on a virtual pet toy made for boys in 1997 of the same name.[1] It was made by the company Bandai, who made Tamagotchi first.

The first anime came out in March 7, 1999 in Japan. Unlike Pokemon, only the first two seasons were continuous. Season 3-7 each had a different story and characters. Season 8, which came out in 2020, is a reboot of the first season.

Many species of Digimon are some type of animal, whether Anthropomorphic or not. For example:

Other digimon have been variants of rabbits, bears, lizards, frogs, and a large number of other species and lifeforms.

Some furries and scalies have created their own 'Digimorphs' (similar to Pokémorphs, albeit less common); Some examples of these Digimorphs can be: Demiglenn, Dragoneer, Patachu, Kato, Darkie and many others.
