Dexter V. K. Freisen, or just Dex Freisen, also known as DexDaCat online (born April 20), is a Canadian American fursuiter, photographer, and chess player living in Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA [1].

Biography[edit]

Born in British Columbia, Dex grew up in Austin and the Brazos Valley, Dex lives in the Twin Cities, and in real life works at an airport and volunteers at local animal shelters. He formerly attended the University of North Dakota[2] before discontinuing his studies due to financial and health reasons. He is a licensed pilot [3] and took Salohcin around in his plane for a video [4]. He is a pansexual cis male and is in an open relationship.

Fandom involvement[edit]

Dex discovered the furry fandom during Jr. High School through Reddit and iFunny. He took a strong interest in the creativity and imagination that came with anthropomorphic animals. Soon he would acquire his first fursona, Dex and involve himself in local and online furry communities. Around this time, he met Salohcin and made appearances in a few of his videos.

He attended his first convention, Alamo City Furry Invasion 2017 [5], with local friends, followed by Texas Furry Fiesta 2018 [6].

During his time attending university in North Dakota, Dex became acquainted with local furry groups and groups in nearby Minnesota and Manitoba, befriending Vulan and Klace among others.

Dex occasionally livestreams on Twitch and YouTube, playing games like X-Plane 11, Chess, Call of Duty, Euro Truck Simulator, and controlling on the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network (VATSIM) network.

He is a member of MNFurs and occasionally attends events. He also actively participates in several Telegram, Discord, and VRChat communities.

Characters[edit]

  • Dex - In February of 2017, Dex was gifted the design of his eponymous first fursona by Shgurr as a Patreon reward. Having always liked the name Dex and having an everlasting love of cats, he wanted his fursona to be a mix of a white tiger and cat with green stripes. His German language and culture studies and German heritage influenced his character's backstory and clothing designs. Dex would eventually be made into a partial fursuit by Goggl3z Creations[7], later refurbished by Splat Fennec[8]. In 2020, a second head by Pyrope Costumes would debut [9].
Dex, the character, hails from Western Germany. Born in 1999, he stands about 5'10" feet (1.77 meters) tall and weighs around 110 pounds (50 kilograms). He often sports a t-shirt in the German flag colours, a red hoodie with a white Canadian maple leaf, and skinny jeans. He also enjoys dressing up in suits and can occasionally be seen wearing a blue collar. He's an avid skateboarder and pilot and enjoys travelling and EDM music. He is a pansexual male but sometimes presents himself as quite feminine.
  • Dice (full Dice the Flying Lynx) - Dice is a black and turquoise lynx with white dots akin to those on a die and grey wings attached to his arms akin to those of a sugar glider. Before he was a Lynx, he was a Winged Sciurus but was changed in 2022, citing contention amongst the overseers of the closed species. Dice would eventually be made into a fullsuit as a sciurus, but tragically was not suitable for meaningful use. Another head by FurryArrows would be gifted to him by his good friend Sweet Tart.
Petros "Dice" Solomos was born in 1994 in the Seikh Su forest near Thessaloniki. He rarely wears clothing, except for his rectangular framed glasses. He's a rebound chess player and classical musician living in London. He's a frequent guest conductor for the London Symphony. In his free time, he enjoys reading. His favorite genres include murder mystery and survival.
Dice is a demiromantic asexual and Dex's only strictly SFW character.
In Canada, Tomahawk hails from northern British Columbia. He has bright yellow eyes and wears a grey beanie and a flannel shirt. He has a reserved, grumpy personality but shows his hidden soft side to those he's close with and trusts.
Tomahawk is a demi-romantic pansexual and Dex's primary NSFW character.
