Derek Paws

Derek Paws (August 2, 1988 - September 7, 2010)[1] was a Texan furry artist and fursuiter.

Derek's fursona was a male husky, and he described himself as "a Texas Longboard Husky".[2] Derek's fursuit was constructed by Silveryote of Furantic Costumes.[3][4] Derek also designed a secondary concept character named Ace.[5] Once it was decided to create Ace, he choose Sophie Cabra of Surf Cat Costumes to build the head. [6] Ace was later sold to Wulfsige on 3/31/2010 and was given the name Teekon.[7]

Born in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.,[8] Derek later lived in Houston, where he was studying computer animation.[9]

Death[edit]

On the morning of September 6, 2010, Derek Paws was involved in a car accident whilst driving home from Brownsville - where he had been visiting his mother - to his home in Houston.[10][11] Placed in intensive care, he died early the next day, September 7, at 12:04 a.m. Central Standard Time (age 22).[12]
