David Gilbert
David Gilbert is the creator of the comic Buckles. He was born in Syracuse, New York in May of 1971 and began drawing at a very early age. Being inspired to become a professional cartoonist by Jim Davis, Gilbert aspired to develop a style that would help him get a job for Disney as he drew comic strips for his high school and college. At the same time Gilbert found a small animation company called Animotion where he began learning animation. It was there in September of 94, that he created the character Buckles. The dog was patterned after his own personality and quirks. Soon in 1996 Buckles was syndicated and began appearing in newspapers nationwide. Gilbert was a guest of honor at Midwest FurFest 2004.
