Cozy Con is an online convention that is open to all fandoms (including furry).[1] The event offers a dedicated streaming page on Twitch and meetups/games/etc on Discord instead of each participant using their own sites, as was the case in the past, to streamline the event. [2] CozyCon also has a presence in Minecraft, ChilloutVR, and VRChat, the latter two featuring virtual vendor halls and custom hangout worlds made possible through CozyCon's partnership with Furnal Equinox.

History[edit]

It was started by Temrin[3] in 2020 as a spiritual successor to Tigerdile's HomeCon, expanded to host artists from all over the internet (not just limited to those streaming or on only one website) and to give artists and their fans an avenue to a convention-like experience without the need to leave their homes or travel long distances.

On July 15th, 2021, CozyCon's Twitter announced that the convention was partnering with Furnal Equinox. The announcement stated that while they would be sharing resources and support, both conventions are still separate events.[4]

CozyCon 1[edit]

Their first event took place on May 2-3, 2020.[5][6] The convention's attendance statistics were: 201 users that claimed badges, total joins 579 (not including duplicate joins) and the maximum number of users at a time was 453.[7]

CozyCon 2: Autumn Magic[edit]

Their second event was held September 19-20 2020.[8] The peak member count was 603, attendees were 218 and server joins (including duplicates) were 1051.[9]

CozyCon 3: Summer Vacation[edit]

Their third event was held on May 14-16, 2021,[10] with a peak of 573 users on the convention's Discord.[11]

CozyCon 4: CozyWave[edit]

On June 1, 2021 CozyCon's Twitter announced their fourth event which was held on September 25-26, 2021,[12] with a peak of 792 Discord members, 189 free swag pickups and 1901 VRChat visits.[13]

CozyCon 5: CozyWave Continues[edit]

On Nov 21, 2021 CozyCon's Twitter announced their fifth event, which was held May 14, 2022.[14] It had a peak of 787 Discord members, 150 free swag pickups, and 1883 VRChat vendor hall visits. [15]

CozyCon 6: Cozy Dreams (Lo-Fi Slumber Party)[edit]

On June 20, 2022, CozyCon's Twitter announced that the 6th event would take place Sep 16-18, 2022, that the event is aiming to stick to the 3rd weekend of September for their fall events going forward, and they are changing from a Pacific Time based schedule to a Central Time based schedule.[16] There were 956 peak attendees to the Discord, 216 swag pickups, 1515 VRC Cozy Island Visits, and 1238 VRC Vendor Hall Visits.[17] ChilloutVR visits were not recorded.

CozyCon 7: Cozy Dreams (Lo-Fi Slumber Party) Continues[edit]

The seventh event was held May 20-21, 2023.[18] The theme continued as "Cozy Dreams (Lo-Fi Slumber Party)." CozyCon 7 saw 1016 peak Discord members, with 984 VRChat Cozy Island visits and 705 VRChat Vendor Hall visits.[19]

During closing ceremonies, it was announced that CozyCon would reduce frequency to one big event yearly, and that the con store and registration would merge for future iterations. The dates and theme for the following event were also revealed.[20]

CozyCon 8: Arcade[edit]

The eighth event was held September 15-17, 2023, with an arcade theme. CozyCon 8 saw 1076 peak Discord members, 136 swag pickups, 627 VRChat Cozy Island visits, and 924 VRChat Vendor Hall visits.[21] Minecraft visits were not recorded. This was the last instance of CozyCon hosting two events in a year.

CozyCon 9[edit]

The ninth event is scheduled for the third week of September 2024. The theme has not yet been announced.
