ConClave is an annual science fiction and fantasy convention that has been held in southeastern/central Michigan since 1976. The convention is the primary activity of the non-profit entity ConClave, Inc. and draws about 600 attendees in the fall. ConClave is also a fully accredited charitable organization. Security at ConClave is traditionally handled by the Dorsai Irregulars.
The ConClave website states "From writers to spaceship pilots, rennies and furries, ConClave is a gathering for anyone with a sense of wonder."
Programming and furry fandom
While retaining its literary science fiction and fantasy roots, ConClave also celebrates other aspects of fandom such as animation, art, film, gaming, music, role-play, television, theater, renaissance reenactment ("rennies"), and furries. Uncle Kage was the fan guest of honor in 2005 and his story hour was again featured at the 31st ConClave from October 6 to 8, 2006 in Romulus, Michigan.
ConClave 32 was held from October 12 to 14, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus, Michigan.
