People to (not) add[edit]

I've been randomly going through the "People to Add" list, trying to whittle it down a little. It occurs to me we should have a discussion page on whether some names should be removed from the list without articles being made, either because the person in question is not relevant to the furry fandom, or there just isn't sufficient information to start an article. I'll start a list....--Higgs Raccoon 01:11, 24 September 2011 (EDT)

  • Anne Fogharty: only google hit for "anne fogharty" furry is WikiFur's "to add" page. The alternative spelling "anne fogarty" furry only brings up links relating to vintage clothing.
  • Robert DeJesus: a notable artist in anime circles, but doesn't seem to have done any furry art beyond the incidental catgirl or sonic the hedgehog picture.deviantART blogspot
I'm sure there are names on the People to add list that are irrelevant or were added mistakenly or... short version, I think your whittling down the list is a great project. Using "What links here" could be helpful also, I think that works even for "redlinks". -- Sine 19:29, 28 September 2011 (EDT)
This page should come in handy for redlinks. Equivamptalk 14:26, 29 September 2011 (EDT)

Sorayama Hajime[edit]

I am going to remove Sorayama Hajime from the list. There is no lack of information on him ([1][2]) but he seems to be a "sexy robot" artist with no connection to Furry. (The closest things I can find are some women drawn with tails, which don't really meet the criteria of "anthropomorphic animals".)--Higgs Raccoon 00:49, 14 October 2011 (EDT)

Back and back[edit]

I'm having a look through http://en.wikifur.com/w/index.php?title=Category:People/People_to_add&diff=346742&oldid=19825 for names that were on the People to add list when it was created and are still there in the most recent version. -- Sine 00:58, 14 October 2011 (EDT)

S names[edit]

A few names with nothing links here/no mention on WikiFur other than in People to add:

  • Smiley V (no results from online search including of "Google Groups"
  • Silken (next to impossible to do an effective search for)
  • Silvrain (no clear search results, maybe is http://silvrain.deviantart.com/ )

-- Sine 13:37, 14 October 2011 (EDT)

  • Smiley V may be this person: [3] [4].
  • I, too, find "Silken" too common a word to effectively search for. There is a "Silkenpaws", though: [5]
  • Silvrain: there's also an empty SheezyArt account with that name:[6]. However, there is some dragon artwork by a Silvrain on herpy.net: [7]

GRiD[edit]

Nominating GRiD for removal from list; no links from within WikiFur and too generic a word to search for.--Higgs Raccoon 17:23, 14 October 2011 (EDT)

I'm going to go ahead and remove it. Far too generic, if this is a real person it should be readded with a link to a profile of theirs (FurAffinity, DeviantArt, etc.) Czxzc 19:46, 1 July 2013 (EDT)

L names[edit]

-- Sine 02:20, 15 October 2011 (EDT)

Claw McKain[edit]

I'm going to remove this one from the list - no links from within WikiFur, and the only Google hit on "Claw McKain" is WikiFur's "People to add" page.--Higgs Raccoon 02:57, 15 October 2011 (EDT)

John T. Baptist and Stenella[edit]

My searches have failed to find anything relevant for these two names.--Higgs Raccoon 09:05, 16 October 2011 (EDT)

Kakumatsuro[edit]

I am removing this name; no links within WikiFur, no useful hits on searches for "Kakumatsuro furries", "Kakumatsuro furry", etc--Higgs Raccoon 09:58, 17 October 2011 (EDT)

NeflyteIV[edit]

Removing this name; Google produces only three hits. One is a page for creating a new article on WikiFur, the other two don't indicate a connection to the furry fandom.--Higgs Raccoon 00:36, 18 October 2011 (EDT)

F names[edit]

Ferian: Nothing links to Ferian on WikiFur; furry-relevant search results I'm seeing are for a Furcadia item. -- Sine 16:55, 21 October 2011 (EDT)

"Foxworth McKnottington" may be a joke name? And I'm not seeing any relevant search results for "Frank Villareal". -- Sine 17:07, 21 October 2011 (EDT)

Ferian is probably this guy (a fursuiter, I think, who lives in Maryland).
Foxworth McKnottington is almost certaintly a joke name. Someone used that name on Furbid to bid on some Adam Wan art, though it looks like no feedback was given so who knows if the winning bid was honoured. There's also this LiveJournal account with some joke entries. (I especially like the furry-stereotypical "I'm behind on the rent and the utilities are being disconnected... but see you all at Anthrocon!" one.) --Higgs Raccoon 18:19, 21 October 2011 (EDT)
Frank Villareal: probably a misspelling/alt spelling for an already-existing article? --Higgs Raccoon 18:31, 21 October 2011 (EDT)
Oh, and Frank Villarreal does, indeed, seem to be aka Boatswain. --Higgs Raccoon 18:36, 21 October 2011 (EDT)

John T. Baptist[edit]

John T. Baptist was an extremist Burned Fur that wrote a post so scatting, the BF group tried to distance it from him really quickly (alt.fan.furry and the old BF forum group),... Susan Gui rings a small bell, but I got nothing on my notes - Spirou 17:50, 27 October 2011 (EDT)

In that case, I'll reinstate those two names.--Higgs Raccoon 18:06, 27 October 2011 (EDT)
Re JTB: Ah yes, here it is...--Higgs Raccoon 18:20, 27 October 2011 (EDT)

Going down to the wire[edit]

I'm seeing a lot of users that mostly frequented the Usenet newsgroups, just FYI - Spirou 19:01, 27 October 2011 (EDT)

Greg Bear[edit]

OK, so there's a Greg Bear who contributed to Genus. I've held off making a stub, though, because I need to check: I assume this isn't the same Greg Bear as the famous scifi writer? --Higgs Raccoon 05:02, 28 October 2011 (EDT)

TransFur staff to add[edit]

There's a list of names and websites in the Staff section of TransFur (convention). -- Sine 13:35, 25 November 2011 (EST)

Artists[edit]

Many artist names and online galleries listed in Artists Beware posts at http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/tag/positive%20feedback -- Sine 00:48, 4 September 2012 (EDT)

People who were Friends Admin on ABC Island[edit]

Sine 19:01, 3 December 2012 (EST): From a list within the article ABC Island:

File:USA.gif Sakkano Imako Furry. Returned to ABC

Shark Toof[edit]

I'm not sure if Shark Toof should be on this list. As an artist, he definitely has an affinity for sharks, but I don't see anything indicating he's a member of the furry fandom, nor do his works show a tendency to anthropomorphize his sharks.--Higgs Raccoon 10:45, 8 May 2013 (EDT)

Eurosuke[edit]

Anyone got anything on this name, from the list? I don't get any obviously relevant search-engine hits.--Higgs Raccoon 15:35, 10 May 2013 (EDT)

Aimee Major[edit]

The only place I could find anything related to Aimee Major was here, so that proves her existence as an artist. But before I created the article I wanted to know if Aimee Major Steinberg is the same person. The Encyclopedia Dramatica article on Aimee Major Steinberg suggests this by saying Aimee Major Steinberg is a furry, but for obvious reasons ED is an unreliable source of information. Czxzc 06:58, 10 June 2013 (EDT)

Aimee Major on Yerf uses a character called Aimee Kitty, which is the name of the LiveJournal used by Aimee Steinberger, so I'd guess they are the same person.--Higgs Raccoon 07:05, 10 June 2013 (EDT)
There's even links to aimeemajor.com on her Yerf, I'm surprised I missed that. Czxzc 07:29, 10 June 2013 (EDT)

"Proof of existence" links[edit]

I'm proposing that each addition to this list (excl. already existing listings) should require a "proof of existence" link. It'll serve a few purposes, mainly to prove the existence of somebody and more often to disambiguate an addition from any other possible people.

Right now I see a "Jason" in the list, where any search of just Jason will never provide any valid results. Same with the now-removed GRiD. I guess any link will do, tumblr, FurAffinity, Inkbunny, twitter. Anything that can show the person exists and is relevant to the furry fandom.

I'd like to hear other peoples ideas on this, as I'm sure I'm not the only one put off from creating articles when there's so much without any links for the person and quite hard to perform a Google search on them. Czxzc 19:39, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

Three years late with a reply, but I've removed Jason from the list, it's far too ambiguous. --V. CA (talk) 20:53, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Names for removal[edit]

If nobody opposes for a while, I'm going to go ahead and remove these names:

--V. CA (talk) 15:02, 14 February 2017 (EST)

Removed all. If anybody can find any sources feel free to add these names back. --V. CA (talk) 18:33, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
