I don't think this is an appopriate category, any more than was Students. -- Sine 22:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I disagree. There seems to be enough people to fit in the category, plus the fact that Dmuth believed it was appropriate enough to create.--Kendricks Redtail 22:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
There do seem to be a fair few people, but I don't get the impression that being a ham radio operator is relevant to furry, and thus it isn't of note here, any more than would be a category for, say, people who scrapbook (make scrapbooks? I think scrapbook gets used as a verb). -- Sine 22:10, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I suppose it is if you're a member of Furry Hams.--Kendricks Redtail 22:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
One of the reasons why I thought the category was relevant is because of ham radio usage at furry conventions. The last several Anthrocons I was at there were at least a dozen hams on the air. Also, Anthrocon 2006 had an actual Fox Hunt [1] [2] as part of the convention programming. That's my Two Watts on the matter. ;-) --Douglas Muth 22:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Possibilities[edit]

Merge into Category:RadioFurs, put that as a userspace category, or delete altogether? -- Sine 19:31, 4 August 2011 (EDT)

DELETE -- I agree with Sine's earlier comments from 2007; the personal hobbies of fandom participants that aren't related to the fandom aren't relevant subject matter here, in my opinion. BlueOtter 09:57, 5 August 2011 (EDT)
Merge - Seems largely redundant with Category:RadioFurs. I also agree that other hobbies should only be covered here if there is some particular furry angle or synergism that makes it "more than the sum of its parts". --mwalimu 10:56, 5 August 2011 (EDT)
My own opinion is (still) for deletion of both this category and category:RadioFurs. -- Sine 13:15, 10 August 2011 (EDT)

Article update (July 26, 2012. #1)[edit]

It's been a year, and so far is two to delete both categories to one merge. If not others voice additional suggestions, going for delete - Spirou 23:17, 26 July 2012 (EDT)

Well, being a ham radio operator is not quite the same thing as "being into Radio Broadcasting or Amateur Radio". If anything, I'd delete Category:RadioFurs (noting the interest on the articles instead) and keep this. I am not convinced that there's any harm in having such a category; it's not derogatory, and there's a legitimate reason that other furs might want to know about other hams in the context of the fandom (moreso than "we go to the same convention"). There are not so many of them, and they make up a small community of their own. Another option is to just make a list (on, say, Furry Hams), but this method seems a bit more sensible than cluttering up that article. Regarding the suggestion to userify, not everyone has a user page. --GreenReaper(talk) 23:29, 26 July 2012 (EDT)

Article update (April 30, 2013. #2)[edit]

Keep, merge, delete?. Merge is no longer an option (deleted Category), but I have seen enough interest Ham radio interest involved with Furry since the late 80s, and there's already a few documented users. Change to Keep. - Spirou 02:33, 30 April 2013 (EDT)
