Carnivore

Carnivore is used in two overlapping, but distinct, senses:

  1. An animal that predominately feeds on other animals. By comparison, a herbivore primarily consumes plant matter, and an omnivore consumes either as available.
  2. Any member of the biological order Carnivora. Most of these are carnivorous (meat-eating) in the first sense, but some, such as giant pandas, are herbivorous.
